Ken Olson is a minor antagonist in season two of Dexter.
He was portrayed by Silas Weir Mitchell.
History[]
Past[]
Ken Olson was first mentioned having killed a drug dealer by running him over with his car. He either somehow knew the drug dealer or didn't know and simply killed him for his drugs, which he stole, or to feel like a hero.
Sometime later, he began sleeping with his boss's wife, which made his boss increasingly abusive towards her. In retaliation, Ken pushed his former boss down a flight of stairs and made it look like an accident. However, the bosses' wife broke up with him after this.
Dex, Lies, and Videotape[]
When he heard a man named John Henry broke into Ken's Mother's retirement home, he tried to copy Dexter Morgan's MO since he looked up to how efficient the Bay Harbor Butcher was and how he killed horrible people, but did the job much worse than Dexter had done. Whereas Dexter uses plastic restraints and surgical equipment to kill his victims, Ken used rope and a garden hatchet. John somehow managed to escape and told the police on the attempt on his life. Ken was later arrested and questioned, but since there was no evidence that was solid enough to put him in prison, they let him go.
Dexter later breaks into Ken's home to gather evidence on him, but he suddenly returns home. Dexter grabs Ken from behind to question him and Ken remorselessly admits to his crimes. When Ken realizes his idol is the one holding him, Ken tells Dexter how much he admires his work. Now that Ken knows Dexter's secret however, Dexter chokes out Ken until he passes out.
When Ken wakes up, he's in the same train cat where he had tried killing John Henry, only this time he's on the table. Dexter scolds him on how to properly set up a "kill room" and when Ken tries to defend himself saying he was doing the same things Dexter was doing, Dexter says Ken only killed the two men for personal gain, drugs and women. Then, Dexter chops off Ken's head with a meat cleaver.
Unlike most of his previous victims who were dumped into the bay harbor, Dexter leaves Ken's body inside the train car as warning to all other potential copy-cats.
