Ken Titus is the main antagonist in Titus.
He was played by Stacy Keach, who also played Cameron Alexander in American History X, Lou Ford in The Killer Inside Me, Wallenquist in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Phantasm in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Howard K. Duff VIII in The Simpsons, and Robert Vance in Batman Beyond.
Biography[]
Ken is Christopher Titus' father and Dave's step-father. He's a hard-drinking, chain-smoking misanthrope who often pulls cruel pranks on his kids (Titus and Dave) to keep them from being "wussies". He is also a racist and a womanizer.
Despite being an alcoholic, Ken has, to quote Titus, "never missed a car payment, never missed a house payment, never missed a day of work," and would make sure his kids were provided for before himself (often making himself go without for the sake of his kids if money was ever tight).
In the episode "Grandma Titus", it is revealed that Ken's mother was very hard on him, in the exact same way that Ken treats his son, Christopher. Ken's mother constantly called Ken him a "failure", just like Ken constantly calls Christopher a "wussy". This way of parenting had passed onto Ken. In that same episode, both Christopher and Ken stand up to Grandma Titus. However, this confrontation didn't go anywhere due to Grandma Titus' dementia.
Personality[]
The most prominent trait of Ken Titus is his aggressive, arrogant and overly straightforward nature. The most common theme between Ken Titus and his kids (particularly Christopher) is his "tough love" approach to almost everything. Another common trait of Ken is - as mentioned before - his heavy drinking, which influences many decisions he makes, which can vary in being positive or negative, or just straight up bizarre.
Due to his very heavy smoking and drinking, Ken's health is a common issue throughout the show. Another aforementioned aspect of Ken is his common womanizing. Any chance Ken has in speaking to any woman he considers attractive, he will use his charm on them. Because of this, Ken has been married 6 times.
Despite Ken's aggressive nature, he does show affability and kindness, though these traits are usually not very long-lasting. In many episodes, Ken will reveal that his mean nature was to encourage others to do better. Sometimes Ken's actions are his own undoing.
