~ Kenard |
Kenard is a minor antagonist in HBO's The Wire. He is young drug dealer for the Stanfield Organization who murders Omar Little.
Personality[]
Kenard is a sadistic sociopath who bullies Dukie every chance he gets and almost burns a cat alive for no reason other than his amusement. He constantly brags about how tough he supposedly is, claiming that "no school can hold if he wants to leave," but his bark is greater than his bite; he's easily beaten whenever he does get into a fistfight. He's similar to Marlo Stanfield in many ways, given their shared sociopathic traits and desire to become street legends.
Biography[]
Season 3[]
Kenard is introduced in the wake of the shootout between Omar Little's crew and the guards of a Barksdale stash house, where he is role-playing the shootout with other kids. Kenard exclaims that it's his turn to be Omar.
Season 4[]
Season 5[]
Kenard observes Omar, now injured after jumping out a window, as he goes on a revenge campaign against Marlo Stanfield. Kenard expresses disappointment over the fact that Omar isn't as impressive as he expected him to be.
In a secluded alley, Kenard douses a stray cat in lighter fluid and is about to burn it alive before Omar passes by, distracting him. Kenard follows Omar into a convenience store, and Omar, not expecting a young child to be a threat, pays little attention to him. This proves to be a mistake, as Kenard shoots him dead as he checks out. With Omar dead at his feet, Kenard is visibly shocked, not out of remorse but rather because he can't believe he managed to kill Omar. He then takes Omar's gun as a trophy and flees the scene.
In the final montage, Kenard is seen being arrested by the same detective who lead the investigation into Omar's murder; the clear implication is that he's being arrested for killing Omar.
