Suzie… be good.
~ Kenneth Bowden's most famous line and also the final line of Wild Things.

Kenneth "Ken" Bowden is a minor antagonist in the 1998 film Wild Things, the first installment of the film series of the same name.

He is a sleazy defense attorney who represents Sam Lombardo in a rape trial and who later figures in an elaborate criminal scheme concocted by Suzie Toller.

He was portrayed by Bill Murray, who also played Grimm in Quick Change, Frank Milo in Mad Dog and Glory, Ernie McCraken in Kingpin, John Bosley in the 2000 Charlie's Angels film, Mayor Cole in City of Ember, Carson Welch in Aloha, Steve Bannon in Saturday Night Live and Krylar in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Biography[]

Bowden is a bottom-feeding defense attorney who is known for pulling shady legal tricks to win cases, often semi-openly breaking the law. He is also a con artist who fakes injuries to win insurance payouts; he is first seen wearing a neck brace for a non-existent injury to fool an insurance claims adjuster.

Wild Things[]

High school guidance counselor Sam Lombardo hires Bowden to represent him when two of his students Kelly Van Ryan and Suzie Toller accuse him of rape. Bowden digs up Suzie's criminal record and Kelly's history of violence and drug abuse, and assures Lombardo that Kelly's wealthy mother Sandra will settle to make the whole thing go away. Even when Lombardo is arrested, Bowden promises him that everything will be alright.

During the trial, Bowden cross-examines Suzie, and accuses her of fabricating the rape allegations to get back at Lombardo for not bailing her out of jail the last time she was arrested. When he says that she will go back to jail if she is found to be lying, she breaks down and says that Kelly convinced her to lie about Lombardo raping them, which wins Lombardo an acquittal.

Soon afterward, Bowden looks on as Sandra writes Lombardo a settlement check for $8.5 million in return for promising not to sue her. He tells Lombardo to get on with his life, apparently unaware that the accusations and trial were a part of a scheme concocted by Lombardo, Kelly, and Suzie to cheat Kelly's mother out of a fortune. It is later revealed that Suzie is the true mastermind, however, and she engineers Kelly's murder at Lombardo's hands and personally murders Lombardo and Detective Ray Duquette after manipulating them in carrying out her plan.

In the movie's final scene, Bowden meets with Suzie at a café in the Caribbean, revealing that he had been in on the plan from the beginning. He gives Suzie a briefcase full of cash and a check for the balance of the settlement, minus some money for her family and his "usual fee". Suzie kisses him on the cheek and walks away, as he tells her to "be good".
