Kenneth McCardle is the overarching antagonist of the Black Mirror episode "Loch Henry". He is the father of Davis McCardle, the husband of Janet McCardle, and a respected police officer in Loch Henry, however, he is revealed to have been one of the two masterminds behind the serial kidnappings of tourists.

He is played by Gregor Firth.

Personality

Kenneth was described as being a caring, cheerful and protective person who cared deeply for his community and was willing to risk his life to protect them against the serial killer Iain Adair. However, this is shown to be a simple mask hiding a completely sadistic deviant, who was said to be a completely perverted sadomasochist, with his midnight activities with his wife being so bad it scarred Richard King, who hookup with the couple. Kenneth shows to be extremely sadistic and cheerful on tapes when torturing and slaughtering his kidnapped victims, and he and Janet kept tapes of their murders in their tapes of their favorite show. While it’s made clear Janet deeply loves Kenneth, his feelings towards Janet seems to mostly be out of sadistic pleasure.

Biography

Not much is known about Kenneth’s life, except for the fact he married Janet, the two apparently having sex with Richard King one night, however the experience disturbed him greatly, as well as being a respected police officer in Loch Henry. During one point, he and Janet worked with a local townie named Iain Adair, the three working together to kidnap tourists, tie them up, torture, rape and murder them all while filming it, hiding the films on their favorite TV show.

In public, he acted as the authority figure trying to find the missing tourists, and one day murders Iain Adair and his parents, shooting himself in the shoulder before he calls for backup, framing Iain Adair as the true culprit while he gets treated as a hero. However, the infection form the bullet wound caused him to become extremely Ill, eventually passing away when Davis was 8.
