Kenneth: Your betrayal is not surprising. You always were a disappointment.
Travis: The feeling is mutual, you f---ing prick!
Kenneth: You know you can't stop this, son.
~ Kenneth and Travis' final interaction in Episode 5 of Sally Face.

Kenneth Phelps is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Red-Eyed Demon) of the 2016 indie video game Sally Face.

Kenneth is a religious zealot, who is the father of Travis Phelps. He is the leader of the supernatural cult known as The Devourers of God, whose goal is to summon the Red-Eyed Demon on Earth, in order to successfully take over the planet. In the past, he is responsible for the murder of Sal Fisher's mother Diane, whom he initially intended to kill Sal due to a prophecy, prior to the events of the game.

However, Kenneth's efforts would soon be permanently thwarted when his son Travis killed him by stabbing, causing his plans of world hegemony to fall apart, at the cost of Travis' life.

Appearance[]

He has a dog mask on and a black robe. His garments are blue with crimson sleeves and cuffs. All of the cultist garb has a hood, so the robe probably does too. It is unknown what he looks like when not covered.

Personality[]

The epitome of a fanatic, Kenneth Phelps has no qualms about unleashing Red-Eyes on the world to further the cause of the Devourers of God, with little care for the damage he causes on his own mission.

After learning of his son's homosexuality, his dedication to the Cult permeated his personal life, even compelling him to attend the Cult's meetings at his ministry and abusing him as a result.

Background[]

Past[]

Even at the price of his son's physical and social well-being, Kenneth committed his life to upholding the will of the Devourers of God, a religious order that his ancestors created centuries before he was born.

With the infection of the Addison family by The Plague of Shadows and Terrence Addison's infection after the slaughter of his own family and his transformation into the Endless One, Kenneth and the rest of the cult finally saw events that fulfilled the predictions long believed by their ardent forefathers.

Kenneth's intentions came very close to being carried out, but they were finally thwarted by Alyson Rosenberg, a fellow council member, and others who were against the cult's actions.

When Sal was a young child, Kenneth followed and injured the youngster in an effort to murder him, but was stopped by Sal's mother, Diane Fisher. Kenneth and his disciples returned to seclusion, content that they had prevented the fulfilment of the prophesy, anxiously awaiting the day when they would defeat God.

Sally Face[]

The Devourers of God sprung into action to unleash the Red-Eyed Demon upon the people of Nockfell once more on the day Larry Johnson had intended to move in with Neil, Todd Morrison, and Sal Fisher. In order to infect the occupants of Addison Apartments with the Dark Capsule, Kenneth was the main summoner and spiritualist.

Kenneth kidnapped Todd and presented him to Red-Eyes as a physical host while Sal attempted to destroy the capsule and cure the tenants of the virus.

Kenneth's whereabouts and if the cultist let him go are still unknown. Following Sal Fisher's execution, Kenneth and his supporters saw considerable success. A large portion of the global population had been infected, and 33 percent of it would eventually become extinct.

Kenneth kidnapped children from the neighbourhood of Nockfell, took them to Phelps Temple, and gutted them there to strengthen The Void since he thought the cult was on the verge of toppling God himself.

Ashley Campbell, armed with Sal Fisher's ghost, faced Kenneth in the middle of the ceremony. Kenneth sent his men to kill the girl and give him the time he needed to develop the Void and finally become a part of it. He was determined to carry his plans through to the conclusion.

Due to the intervention of his own son Travis, who pierced Kenneth with a blade and fell into The Void, the Cult's efforts and Kenneth were both permanently stopped.

Trivia[]

  • Kenneth Phelps is the only identified character in the game whose face is never revealed, aside from Sal Fisher.
