Kenneth "Kenny" Doyle is a minor antagonist in the 2017 Netflix original film Death Note, which is very loosely based on the anime and manga series of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. He is a violent bully who enjoys stealing from others, beating people, and harassing girls that ends up as Light Turner's first victim.
He was portrayed by Jack Ettlinger.
Kenny is first seen outside of the high school where Light and he goes. He beats up and pushes down another student before stealing his wallet and pulling out all of his money, pocketing it for himself as his friends and goons cheer him on. He is about to get away when Mia Sutton intervenes, attacking Kenny and trying to get him to stand down. Kenny goes to attack her, but Light rushes in and stops him, instead standing up to the bully himself, resulting in getting punched and knocked unconscious. Kenny is then scared off by an approaching teacher.
Later, Light gets ahold of a Death Note, a notebook able to kill anyone whose name is written in it. With the book comes its former owner Ryuk, who encourages Light to try it out. He shows Light outside the school, where Kenny and one of his cronies are beating and sensually harassing a female student. Ryuk suggests Light try the Death Note out on Kenny, writing his name and cause of death. Light, curious, writes Kenny's name and follows it up with "decapitation". As he and Ryuk look on, a series of accidents outside lead to a truck with a ladder attached to the top to swerve off of the road and crash near Kenny, causing the ladder to extend and promptly take off the upper half of Kenny's head, brutally killing him.
After his death, the school is left shocked at the apparent tragedy, though people like Mia discuss if Kenny deserved it. Light makes a half-hearted attempt at expressing sorrow for what happened, but Mia sees right through it.
Kenny is rude, barbaric and insensitive. He openly steals from people and brutally beats them, all for unknown reasons. He has no clear goals, other than just being evil and hurting people. He gets sadistic joy from his actions, even laughing and smiling through his beatings and thefts.
- Although Kenny is Light's first victim, L thinks his first victim is James Brode (Light's third victim), and James Turner thinks it is Antony Skomal (Light's second victim).
