History[]
Kevin Bingham had a sexual relationship with Melissa Wilds in high school and at some point broke up. At 18, Bingham was arrested for armed robbery, assault, battery and burglary. Bingham was arrested in a bar for attempted murder after a man spilled his drink, and he stabbed him 16 times. Bingham was released on parole five years after the crime. At some point in prison, Bingham learned a technique to wrap people up in barbed wire, where he tortured and murdered four people in home invasions and robbed and assault many more.
After learning that her husband died, he went to Melissa who was now working at a law firm. Bingham wrapped Melissa in barbed wire and tortured her until she told him where to find people who received big settlements. He and Carl Hearnes went into their houses, while Carl would do the safes, and Bingham would brutalize and assault the homeowners. Melissa wanted out, but Bingham wouldn't let her, so she asked Justin Voight for help. However, Bingham knew Melissa was a rat so he made sure she was able to tell the police.
Chicago P.D.[]
He tied up Melissa with barbed wire, but she fought back and scratched him, so he slit her throat and cut off her fingernails. After he was done, he left her body in the trunk of her car, which would be found by a park employee. Bingham went to his half brother Dillon James and got cash and guns from him. The next day, he tracked down Justin before tying him in barbed wire and shooting him in the head.
Hank Voight and Erin Lindsay found Justin in the trunk of his car, tied with barbed wire with a bullet in his head. Hank and Erin took him to the hospital, but he was unfortunately put on life support with no chance at recovery. Hank goes to the streets and puts a tens of thousand dollar bounty if they find his son's attacker. Hank and the unit track down the people who were connected, with Hank severely injuring and assaulting them before arresting them. After Justin is taken off life support, Hank gets a call from an informant who tells Hank about his son's murderer’s location. Hank sends the Intelligence unit to a house but the house is completely vacant.
That night, associates tracked down Bingham and kidnapped him to bring to Voight. At the Silos, a murder base for Voight, his friends arrive and tell him that they got a "present" for him in the back of the trunk. The trunk of the car is opened to Bingham who is unironically wrapped in barbed wire with a gag in his mouth and protesting. An angry Voight calmly reveals that he's Justin's father. Bingham is left alone while Voight’s friends leave. Bingham starts lying to Voight and saying he didn't kill Justin and that he also wants revenge on who killed him/ Voight does not fall for his lies and reveals the scratched marks on Bingham's chest. Bingham cowardly offers Voight money, but Voight only gets angrier. Voight then takes out a shovel and throws it on the ground. He cuts the barbed wire with bolt cutters and holds him at gunpoint to force him to start digging, which Bingham does.
Bingham tries to explain his actions as he digs his grave in the dark, cold, rain. Soon Detective Erin Lindsay arrives and tries to convince Voight to stop. Bingham agrees with her, but Voight tells Linsday to leave, which she eventually does. Realizing his life is over, he insults Justin before he is then shot dead by Voight.
Posthumously, Emma Crowley launches an investigation to find the body of Bingham. Emma tells Voight to give up his badge, but no corpse is found as it was already moved. Eventually, his body was washed up on shore and Olinsky and Voight had to deal with it. At the end of season 5, Olinsky was put, into prison for the crime and later murdered by being shanked to death.
