Khessa is a supporting antagonist in the Netflix TV Show The Dragon Prince. She is the former queen of the Sunfire Elves, and the ruthless sister of Janai, who hated humans and liked to have them look at the light of the sun just for fun, unlike her sister, who respects her enemies and treats them with honor if they do the same.
She was voiced by Brenda Crichlow.
Biography[]
Khessa was born as the great-grandaughter of Aditi alongside her sister Janai and her brother Karim, and would become the queen of the Sunfire elves. One day, she had her sister attack the border of the Human Kingdoms with a group of soldiers, and while she failed, she was able to capture General Amaya.
After Amaya refused to talk during Janai's interogation, she brought her to Khessa, and after Amaya spitted on her, Khessa forced her to look into the sunlight from her staff. Janai told Amaya to look in order to save her life, she then reveals to be a human with a pure heart, causing Khessa to give Amaya to Janai and told her to enjoy her "pet".
Janai would then talk to Khessa how Viren came to Lux Aurea to talk to her, and he told her that he wouldn't harm her if she allowed his army to pass over Lux Aurea. Khessa laughed at it and forced Viren to look into the sunlight, and after finding out he was a dark magic user, she told him that he would be "purified" the the Sunforge.
When Viren was being affected by the Sunforge, Aaravos' caterpillar comes out of Viren's mouth and he posseses one of the Sunfire elves, causing him to have a physical body, and after killing her guards, Aaravos told Khessa about her grandmother Aditi's fate before he kills her by disintegrating her body.
Janai and her brother Karim would then mourn her death by performing her favorite dance, and Janai would later become the new queen of the Sunfire elves after her death.

Khessa is an arrogant and misanthropic individual who sees humans as beneath her. She is at least somewhat sadistic, as she enjoys torturing humans by forcing them to look at the intense sunlight from her staff. Unlike her sister, Khessa showed no respect for her enemies or to an extent even her allies, which caused them to have arguments with each other.
According to Callum, Khessa had a larger temper than her sister, and despite describing her as a fair ruler, she disliked her sister's ideals of honor.
