Khonshu is the main antagonist of the Moon Knight comic series and the titular main antagonist of the Avengers storyline Age of Khonshu. The Egyptian god of the moon and travellers, he is Marc Spector's patron deity following his original death, and is responsible for giving him his abilities in order to become the vigilante known as Moon Knight.
Despite this, however, he is not afraid to manipulate or put him in harms way, alongside doing other actions many would deem as morally questionable, if not downright villainous.
Biography[]
Khonsu is the Egyptian god of the moon and the one who gave Marc Spector his powers and his transformation into Moon Knight. He was one of the Gods of Egypt and was said to be born to the son of Amon Ra and Amunet while other stories said him to be the adopted son of Ra the sun god. He was the brother of Montu and possibly to Bets and Sekhmet. However, according to Knull, Khonshu was one of the Elder Gods who existed before Earth and was merely only incorporated into mythology and setting in their distant past.
He was offended since the stone age that he did not have a mortal avatar, until one day he met Marc Spector, who was left for dead by his partner Raul Bushman. Khonshu offers him to live in exchange for being his avatar, to which Marc accepted and would later become his champion and avatar Moon Knight. He would since become his ally sometimes and often appears helping him in his time of crisis, but sometimes would become a villain and became more controlling towards Marc. Aside from this, he would later encounter Iron Fist and fight Thor for control his hammer, proved worthy of wielding Mjolnir for the later case. He would most notably become the primary antagonist of the 2016 Moon Knight series, being originally killed by the hero until his later revival. He would even go toe to toe with the Avengers and win against them. There was debate on whether or not that Khonshu was real or just another split personality of Marc until recent times confirm that he is indeed real. He also has a rivalry with his father Amon Ra who also had his own avatar the Sun King to rival Moon Knight for a while.
