Ki'ichiro Numabuchi (沼淵己一郎 Numabuchi Kiichirō^?) is a former Black Organization member.

He's voiced by Naoki Tatsuta.

Appearance[]

According to Ai Haibara, Ki'ichiro has "thin eyebrows and sunken eyes". His cheeks are sunken and he has an upturned tip of his nose. His face looks almost like a skull with skin stretched over it.

Past[]

Ki'ichiro Numabuchi was accepted into the organization due to his psychic qualities. The aim was to make Numabuchi one of its killers. However, being at the bottom of the hierarchy, he didn't get much insight into the organization. Numabuchi proved useless as an assassin. Hence, he was taken to the Sherry/Shiho Miyano department to be used as a human subject. However, he became scared and left the organization and went on the run. Escaping, he believed he was being pursued by members of the organization and subsequently killed the suspected pursuers. He was sentenced to death for the murders.

Present day[]

The Naniwa Serial Murder Case[]

Yusuke Sakata tracked down Numabuchi to question him about his father's case. But since Inspector Sakata looks so much like his father, Numabuchi thinks it's him. This is further evidence of his mental health issues. After Numabuchi confesses, Sakata captures and imprisons him. For a time, Numabuchi must go with very little or no food. After Conan finds Numabuchi at the Osaka Prefecture Police Department, he is taken away. During the evacuation, he pretends to stumble and grabs a knife lying around. He lunges at Conan, who stands in his way. However, Conan survives this attack. After the attack, Numabuchi was arrested.

Mitsuhiko's Mystifying Forest[]

During his interrogation after the arrest in Osaka, Numabuchi stated that he had killed not three but four people. He reported burying the fourth body in a forest in Gunma Prefecture. Therefore, Inspector Yamamura was assigned to go into the forest with Kiichiro Numabuchi and some other police officers. While searching for the buried body, Numabuchi acted strangely, saying he couldn't remember the location. Then around noon he fled into the forest.

Meanwhile Mitsuhiko disappeared without a trace. The Detective Boys' search for him drives them to Gunma. There they meet Inspector Yamamura. He tells them that serial killer Ki'ichiro Numabuchi is in the forest next to Mitsuhiko. On this occasion, Haibara tells a lot about Numabuchi's past, for example that he is a former member of the black organization. Later, Numabuchi shows up with Mitsuhiko in her arms. Numabuchi overheard a conversation between the Detective Boys, Professor Agasa, and Inspector Yamamura and guessed that Mitsuhiko was looking for fireflies. He then fled back into the forest and brought Mitsuhiko back to his friends. Their reasons are not exactly known.

Later, Ki'ichiro is caught by Inspector Yamamura and his superior. As they drag him to the police car, he falls over as thousands of fireflies rise out of the lake. After seeing this, he is chased away by the police officers. Since the fourth body is not found, Conan expresses the suspicion that there is no fourth body at all, but that Numabuchi wanted to see the fireflies one last time, thinking Mitsuhiko would witness the spectacle.
