Kid Cruel is a minor antagonist in the comic book series Sonic the Comic. He is a simian gangster who turns children into Badniks and steals their parents' belongings.
Biography[]
Kid Cruel had some familiarity with Dr. Robotnik, as he used his victims as organic batteries for Coconuts. He forced the parents of at least one of his victims to hand over all the gold from the local mines. The roboticized kid's parents called Sonic for help, and he arrived with Tails and Porker in tow. As Sonic prepared to break the children free from the Coconuts, it was revealed that the robots were wired to bombs that would explode on impact. As Sonic was left faced with a dilemma, Kid Cruel called Robotnik to come and collect Sonic, hoping to get the bounty for his head. At the same time, Sonic managed to not only destroy the Coconuts, but also remove the bombs in a way that wouldn't kill either the children inside or Sonic himself. The hedgehog then tied the gangster up, leaving him to explain Sonic's absense to Robotnik once he'd arrive.

- Kid Cruel is named after an American band "Kid Creole and the Coconuts", which is also referenced by the type of Badniks he uses.
- Sonic the Comic Wiki deems Kid Cruel a negative stereotype of an African-American gangster, noting that such a character would likely cause a scandal had the comic been released later.
- Kid Cruel never actually appears in the main comic, only in the third issue of Sonic the Poster Mag.
