Kid Potato is a minor antagonist from the PBS show "WordGirl". He is the father of the Butcher who was once a powerful villain, but has since retired due to old age. He was voiced by Ed Asner.
Biography[]
Kid Potato first appears in "Meat my Dad" where he attacks WordGirl and Huggy Face with mashed potatoes as the Butcher was attempting to rob the bank. He then criticizes his son villainy, insisting he wears a mask and upset that he and WordGirl were on good terms despite their fighting. The two cover the superheroine and her sidekick with both meat and potatoes before leaving to the Butcher's house where Kid Potato claims that he hoped when his son got older, they'd become a crime duo named Meat & Potatoes. After some back and forth about his status as a villain, the two of them attempt to rob the jewelry store. Butcher then breaks down and refuses to join his dad in crime, and the two end up trapping each other with their food based powers.
In "Meat-Life Crisis", the Butcher visits his dad after seemingly losing his powers and feeling that his life as a supervillain has become too predictable. His dad then reveals he's since become a ballpark vendor after throwing his back out with his potato based attacks and invites him to join, which he does.
He then regains his powers and feeds the hungry spectators, but gets upset at his payment and starts attacking the stadium, with his dad joining in until he throws out his back again, and the two soon get arrested.
In "The Meaty Dimension", the Butcher reads a book by his father that explains where his powers come from.
