Kifus is an antagonist of both The Kingdom series and The Knights of Arrethtrae series.
Kifus is a self-righteous extremist who subjugates the people of the town of Chessington in the King's name. He "protects" Chessington as leader of the Noble Knights by his planned practices. Kifus makes people suffer from oppressing and starving them. Anyone who commits an offense, no matter how minor, is tortured and maimed. He ignores the plight of everyone beyond Chessington. Kifus allows a family to be slaughtered and leaves the survivors to be sold into slavery because they are not under his authority. Kifus has the Prince hanged after being insulted by the Prince during a duel and starts persecuting everyone who follows the Prince's teachings, finally choosing to destroy them all, from active spreaders of the harmless messages of the Prince to totally unarmed and defenseless prisoners. Kifus has no trouble ordering his Noble Knights to be mutilated and killed if they display concern for the Prince's supporters. In his most vile act, he tries to hang an entire family, including children, to get revenge on a former Noble Knight who had become a follower of the Prince.
