The Killer League Leader is the main antagonist of the donghua series Scissor Seven. He is a mysterious man who leads the Killer League, and the de-facto ruler of Xuanwu. He is also the mentor-turned-arch-nemesis of Seven and Green Phoenix.
He is voiced by Ma Rui in Mandarin/Cantonese and Steve Blum (who also voiced Vilgax, Ares, Darkseid, Swindle, Killer Croc, Electrocutioner, the Green Goblin, Amon and Jindiao) in English.
Appearance[]
The Killer League Leader is a man around his 40s-50s with prominent cheek bones, white hair and grey eyes that appears red when shadowed. He wears dark purple cloak with inner robes resembling a skeleton with a red center, and red gloves. In a flashback, he wore a traditional assassin outfit with armor and black cloth face mask, which might indicate that he wasn't the leader back then.
In his transformed state, he has long hair that reaches his legs and red eyes.
Personality[]
True to being the leader of the Killer League, the Leader is a sadist who enjoys killing and taunting. A ruthless assassin with no remorse, he purposely takes away the lives of others just to achieve his goals, among them including Green Phoenix's family, driving the latter to become a member of the League to kill him. Arrogant and believing himself to be safe no matter what, he gloats when fighting Green Phoenix and threatened the latter's family when invading the Qingyun Country.
As the one responsible for countless assassinations across the world, the Leader gives free rein for those like Redtooth and White Fox to cause deaths everywhere. He is also dismissive of his minions' lives and willing to endanger the entire Chicken Island just to satisfy his petty grudge against Seven. The Leader is also deceptive, as he manages to trick others into believing that the Killer League's Messenger is actually a robot from the Stan Country.
Biography[]
Ten years ago, the Killer League Leader personally led the invasion on the Qingyun Country to take its national treasure, a pendant worn by the emperor. He successfully took it and killed the entire royal family save for the young prince, who he left for death when he burned down the entire palace. Unbeknownst to him however, the prince survived and became Green Phoenix. Determined to avenge his family at all cost, Green Phoenix decided to join the Killer League so he could get close to the Leader and kill him.
When Seven was 15, the Leader noticed his potential and recruited him into the League. Seven proved to be a prodigy, eventually landed on the top spot of the League's assassins and became the Leader's favorite. However, he later met the Girl in White and wished to protect her, thus turning back on the League. Eventually the Girl betrayed him and caused him to suffer amnesia and go missing. Enraged, the Leader decided to find and kill Seven at all cost.
After completing the assignment of killing Seven, Green Phoenix returns to the Leader and reveals his true purpose of join the Killer League. The Killer League's Messenger then attacks him in an attempt to make him waste his qi, but he manages to create a barrier around himself and the Leader, preventing her from entering. The Leader taunts him and finally learns of his true identity and reason for wanting to kill him. A fight between the two ensues, but just before Green Phoenix is able to land the killing blow, he exhausts his qi, allowing the Messenger to block his attacks, defending the Leader. Manjusaka then sends a live recording revealing that Green Phoenix's apprentice Thirteen is in grave danger, forcing Green Phoenix to destroy the Messenger and end the fight in a draw.
Later on, the two meet again and Green Phoenix traps the Leader in a prison of qi. The Leader then transforms and the two prepare to fight.
