Kiminobu Hiyoshi is a minor antagonist in the video game Yakuza Kiwami, and a catalyst for the downfall of the game's main antagonist, Akira Nishikiyama.
His voice actor is uncredited.
Appearance[]
Hiyoshi is a short, stocky man with an aged appearance. He wears a typical lab coat with a white dress shirt, adorned with a mustard tie.
Personality[]
Hiyoshi at first seems like a typical doctor, using typical doctor jargon and telling Nishiki the things you'd tell someone in grieving. It's only once he is gone that you realize he's truly a selfish gambler who'd put his pleasures above the lives of his own patients.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Hiyoshi's life before the game's events, other than the fact that he became a doctor to pay off the 30-million-yen debt that he amassed via gambling. His chance to fully pay it off came in 1996, when Yuko Nishikiyama came under his care. He discovers her odds of survival are incredibly low, news which devastates her brother, Akira Nishikiyama. Desperate, he tells Hiyoshi he would do anything to save her. Realizing that this is his chance, he tells Nishiki that he would need to pay for an organ transplant, with the cost being 30 million yen. Nishiki begs Matsushige, one of his men, for the money, and debases himself in order to receive it. Once he gets the money, he gives it back to Matsushige to pay off his debts and resigns from the hospital, running as far away as he possibly can. When Nishiki realizes that he's been scammed and his sister has been damned to an early demise, he breaks, with no chance of recovery.
Hiyoshi would appear in a campaign in the mobile game Ryu Ga Gotoku Online, where a few years after he scammed Nishiki, he's back to gambling. He's accused of cheating in a casino owned by the Chinese Triad, at which point he encounters a hardened and broken Nishiki. Hiyoshi is initially mortified, but is assured that he won't be harmed and instead will be allowed to flee Japan and start over. Hiyoshi is thankful and goes with Nishiki to a wharf, where he quickly realizes that he was never going to escape. Nishiki tells Hiyoshi that he brought him out here to sell his body to organ brokers for 30 million yen, the same money that he took from Nishiki. The organ brokers take him away, his life all but forfeit.
Trivia[]
- Hiyoshi never appeared in the original Yakuza and was added to Yakuza: Kiwami to flesh out Nishiki's backstory.
