The story of King Andrias from Amphibia.

Becoming the King of Amphibia[]

That slippery, little frog has ruined EVERYTHING! Her and her kind will need to be kept in line. And as for you, you failed me as well. I'm having you reassigned. You will travel to the outskirts and defend the villages. Now, get out of my sight.
~ Andrias severing his friendship before scratching the painting he made of himself and his friends.

A young and happy Andrias goes to present Lief and Barrel with their gift before decending into villainy.

A thousand years before the events of the show, Andrias was under the service of his father, King Aldrich, who ruled over Newtopia, which was once a much larger, more advanced metropolis. One day, Andrias made a painting of himself and his two closest friends, Leif (an ancestor of the Plantar family) and Barrel, which he showed to them, much to their delight. Eventually, they were fooling around in the castle until Andrias saw his father towering over him. Aldrich had Andrias walk with him and hypocritically lied to him that Leif and Barrel are using him, and that friendship doesn't last.

In the basement, Andrias was introduced to Aldrich's master, the Core, and Aldrich talked about how he and his ancestors used the Calamity Box to power technology such as robot frog soldiers and conquer other worlds. Andrias was surprised to hear his father suggest exterminating humanity to strip-mine the Earth of its resources, but when given the key to the Calamity Box, Andrias accepted the key as he wanted to make his father proud. That night, Andrias showed Leif and Barrel the room the Calamity Box was in, and while they were having fun with it, Leif touched all of the stones in the Calamity Box at once and received a vision of Amphibia being destroyed should the device be continued to be abused.

As Andrias was watching, Leif tried to persuade Aldrich to stop using the box to invade other universes because it would only end up with the multiverse's ecosystem becoming a threat to Amphibia itself. However, Aldrich stubbornly dismissed it and claimed that since the stones are unique to Amphibia, they should be the only ones able to conquer, postponing the meeting. Andrias thanked him for hearing what Leif had to say, but Aldrich lied that it only proved that she was a traitor to the royal family and reminded him that once he joins his ancestors in the Core, Amphibia will look to Andrias as the new king.

After Leif failed to get an audience with Aldrich, Andrias talked with his friends and told them that he was undergoing a lot of pressure, and they made a group hug. However, Leif took the key to the Calamity Box from Andrias' pocket, which Andrias didn't notice until Aldrich asked him to show it to his servants. Andrias then witnessed Leif stealing the Calamity Box and began chasing her through the palace before bumping into Barrel, who tried to help him chase her down. However, Leif escaped, journeying to the Mother of Olms to inquire what to do with it.

Devastated by her betrayal, Andrias severs his friendship with her and Barrel and demotes the latter to protect the farthest villages. After seeing Barrel walk away with tears in his eyes, Andrias violently scratches at the painting that he made for his friends and later on creates the feudal system to oppress the frogs. Following this, his father would soon upload himself into the Core, planning to conquer the multiverse alongside his ancestors and use his son Andrias to continue his legacy. Afterward, the Core became Andrias' master. Because of the prophecy stating the box would return, Andrias fused his body with cybernetics that would prolong his life, enabling him to spend the next thousand years plotting.

Interfering with the Olm Prophecy[]

The prophecy is being undone as we speak, my lord. Soon, we will have our revenge.

Centuries later, Anne and her friends are taken into the world of Amphibia due to the Calamity Box. Marcy Wu was transported to Newtopia, where while he was reading in his throne room, he was surprised to see her. After Marcy asks if she can call him 'Drias, he remarks in guilt that there was only one person who called him that, remembering when Leif seemingly betrayed him by stealing the Calamity Box. Marcy then gives him a pin and puts it on his robe, which he accepts, thinking that he may have found a new friend.

After Lady Olivia takes her to see more of the castle, the Core then speaks to Andrias via his crown, telling him to kill Marcy. Andrias tries to make excuses for not killing her when he has the opportunity, such as saying that they still don't know the Calamity Box's location and that Marcy is just a child, but then quickly comes up with a strategy to keep her alive while still appealing to the Core's interests, suggesting that he manipulates Marcy into luring Anne and Sasha into Newtopia so they can be stripped of their powers that come with the Olm Prophecy, allowing for the prophecy to be dismantled. Aldrich then appears to Andrias, impressed by his plan to keep her alive because it means their bloodline's legacy can be restored, though Andrias feels some remorse for his decision.

Not wanting Marcy to discover any information about the prophecy or the Calamity Box prematurely, Andrias anonymously hires Captain Ernst to destroy ancient scrolls detailing them in exchange for extreme wealth and a chance to leave the Night Guard.

Eventually, Marcy worked up to the rank of Chief Ranger in Andrias' Newtopian Night Guard, taking Ernst's old position. At some point, Marcy tells Andrias over a game of Flipwart that she purposely intended to use the box to go on adventures with Anne and Sasha forever. He first appears in Season 2 at the end of the episode "Marcy at the Gates", where he watches Anne and Marcy's reunion. He then moves two figures resembling the two girls on his chess-like game board stating that the game could now begin. Having knowledge of the Calamity Box, Andrias assists Marcy with further research into the music box, but they hit a dead end. When Marcy accidentally ruins a tapestry, it led to a secret entrance to a library which Andrias claims that he had no idea about.

In "A Day at the Aquarium", Andrias tells Anne and Marcy about the Calamity Box, lying about how his ancestors were peaceful scientists who used it to study other worlds. He then tells the girls that they have to visit the three Temples to restore power to the box before they can go home. Once Anne leaves Newtopia, Andrias tells Marcy about what Newtopia used to be like, and he proposes to her that once the box is recharged, he can help her use it to travel to other worlds so that she can always enjoy adventures with her friends.

In "The First Temple", Andrias receives a letter that Marcy and the others had successfully charged the first gem at one of the temples. He then goes in the basement of his castle and tells the Core that it would not be long until the "prophecy" is undone and that revenge would be theirs.

A Plot Long in the Making[]

In good time, my dear, but first, I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret. There was a time when Newtopia was truly great! But that greatness was stolen from us. Centuries of prosperity brought to an end because of me. I was weak, trusting those who said they were my friends. And because of that, the music box was taken under my watch. It cost us everything. And after a thousand years, no one even remembers our legacy. But now, at long last, the box is back! And with its power, Newtopia will be returned to glory! For you see, my ancestors weren't frail explorers… they were glorious conquerors!
~ Andrias explaining his backstory and revealing his true nature.

In "True Colors", Anne, Marcy, and Sasha arrive in Newtopia to give the Calamity Box to Andrias. However, Sasha and Grime interrupt the King's plans with the Toad Army's invasion. Andrias is imprisoned in the city, but Hop Pop and Olivia break him out shortly after. During the invasion, Sasha and Grime find out about Andrias' true plans for the Calamity Box and try to warn Anne, who doesn't believe them and bests them in combat.

After the rebellion is dealt with, Anne reluctantly gives Andrias the Calamity Box, believing that he will transport the girls home. He puts the music box on a pedestal to power up his castle; enabling it to fly, while the reactivated ancient factories all over Amphibia begin creating Frobots for the giant newt king that flew and arrived at the castle within a few moments. Andrias explains his true plans to the girls, telling them that he plans to invade Earth, and he restores power to Newtopia with the box. He also reveals that Marcy purposely brought Anne and Sasha to Amphibia, and the girls and their friends fight back against him. During the fight, Andrias destroys Frobo, the Plantar's robot, and Polly manages to temporarily stop the box from powering the city.

Not wanting his conquest to be ruined, Andrias threatens Sprig's life in return for the box, but he doesn't hold up his end of the deal and drops Sprig to his possible death, causing Anne to channel her powers and take on Andrias head-to-head. During the fight, Marcy saves Sprig from falling. Anne's power eventually fades, and Marcy uses the box to provide Anne and the Plantars an opportunity to escape. However, before they could escape, Andrias seemingly murdered Marcy, stabbing her with his sword, but he wasn't able to prevent Anne from escaping as she and the Plantars ended up on Earth in the middle of a traffic jam.

In the Season 3 episode "Turning Point", with the Calamity Box in his possession, Andrias then prepares his plan to attack Earth, starting with the invasion of the United States in Anne's home state of California. He then sharply asks General Yunan and Lady Olivia if they are on his side, to which they nervously declare they are in allegiance with him out of fear, and he orders them to put Marcy's comatose body in a rejuvenation tank. As Sasha and Grime escape via Joe Sparrow, Andrias orders his Frog Robots to follow Sasha and Grime in the hopes of killing the duo, but the Wartwood townsfolk eventually aid the duo in destroying his army.

Andrias then sends a silver robotic assassin to eliminate Anne because she was the main obstacle to his plans and the only one who still has her connection with her Calamity Gem (also to get the latest volume of a book series that Marcy got him hooked on, and a bag of potato chips). He then looked to a comatose Marcy in the rejuvenation tank, telling her that her part was just beginning.

Letting Marcy Get Uploaded[]

Marcy: LET ME GO!
Andrias: I wish I could, but my lord craves a host. And it wanted the best, the smartest. The only who could beat me at flipwart.
Marcy: [gasps]
Andrias: Honestly, Marcy, I like you. Always have! I begged the Core to consider an alternative host, but… alas.
~ Andrias admitting to Marcy that he didn't want to have her as the Core's host but did it anyway as a means for multiversal conquest.

In "Anne-sterminator", Andrias checks in on the Cloak-Bot to see how it's progressing, to which it responds that it got the book he wanted. However, Andrias becomes displeased when he notices that he got volume 3 of the Cynthia Coven series rather than volume 2, with Cloak-Bot replying that that one was out of stock. He becomes further displeased when he finds out that it hasn't killed Anne yet either, so he activates a bomb implanted in its chest that will self-destruct in one hour if it doesn't complete his mission within that time before signing out with a fake cheery smile and thumbs-up.

In "Olivia & Yunan", the episode's titular characters are summoned by Andrias for an important discussion. They decide to peek in on him, curious why he's taking so long to let them in, and see him seemingly arguing to himself about "wanting to take a different route" before relenting. This causes Olivia and Yunan to think he's gone mad, but as they discuss this, they're suddenly beckoned inside by him. Andrias then explains that Lady Olivia has been promoted to the overseer of the workers harvesting Amphibia's resources and destroying its environment. He also tells her and Yunan to terminate anyone who disobeys his command. After the discussion, both Olivia and Yunan decide that Andrias has gone too far and that their best course of action is to retrieve Marcy and take him down.

After finding Marcy and facing off against the Core after it tries to defeat them using their greatest fears, Andrias reappears and explains to them that he's been watching them try to betray him using his crown, which turns out to be possessed by the Core. He then tells them that he and the Core had planned all along for them to try to rescue Marcy so that they would bring her back to life, essential to the Core's ultimate plan. After Marcy is suddenly grabbed and restrained to a chair, he claims that he'd begged the Core to take a different course of action because he was too fond of Marcy to want her possessed, but that in the end, it was necessary that it chose the smartest, strongest, and most suitable person to be its host, that person being Marcy. The Core then possesses Marcy, ending the episode on a cliffhanger.

Invading Earth[]

It doesn't matter. Against the full force of our army, none shall stand! Not Anne, not Earth, not anyone!
~ Andrias telling the Core about his army.

In "Froggy Little Christmas", Andrias is preparing for his dimensional conquest when he finds out Anne is still alive; at that moment, the Tripple B presents him with a drone prototype in the form of a Christmas present, which he decides to use to kill Anne himself. He sends the drone to Earth, where it takes possession of the animatronic Santa Clause in the Holiday Parade and begins attacking everything; however, Anne manages to defeat the drone by piercing the tree of her float with it through the animatronic. His plan is ruined again, the possessed Marcy mocks Andrias for his failure while he nevertheless quips the war is just beginning and presents his extended Frobot army, vowing he will get Anne next time.

After Anne and the Plantars return to Amphibia, King Andrias and Darcy seize this as an opportunity to destroy Anne once and for all and begin their takeover plan on Earth. In "The Beginning of the End", Anne, the Plantars, and Sasha make it to Andrias' castle where they have a run-in with Darcy, who captures everyone, claims victory, and flies the castle towards the portal to Earth to begin the invasion. However, before starting the invasion, Darcy decides to exterminate in order to sent the remaining powers of the blue stone back to the box only for Anne to outsmart them by warning them that if they killed her, the remaining will cease a long with her. So they decided to spare Anne for now and begin their invasion of Earth.

In "All In" King Andrias unleashes his army onto Earth (Los Angeles) for the final invasion; however, he starts to express his doubts about starting the invasion. Andrias engages with Anne in one final showdown and nearly succeeds in defeating her until Sprig intervenes and reveals to Andrias that Leif never intended to stop loving him, rather encouraging him to continue becoming a better individual and not let his anger consume him. Realizing this, Andrias is brought to tears (but due to crossing too many lines, feels like it's too late to redeem himself), which angers Darcy, who tries to control Andrias into fighting again. However, Andrias persists and submits himself and finally gets defeated by Anne.

As everyone was cheering for Anne's victory, Andrias was revealed to be cyborg as he been using to preserve his life for a thousand years. He then asks Anne and Sprig save Marcy. After foiling the invasion, Andrias was later brought onboard on the castle by Anne and her friends. When returning to Andrias was unconscious while Polly was driving and when Lady Olivia announces their victory to the resistance.

Returning to Amphibia in "The Hardest Thing", Andrias reveals that the red moon seen throughout the show was where his ancestors conducted many of their baby projects including one meant to serve as a contingency plan should their control over the world be thwarted. While Anne, Sasha, and Marcy go to space to stop the moon from crashing into Amphibia, his father begs him to help the Core, but Andrias betrays him and instead sends his Frobots to assist the girls. Taking his crown, he decides to do what he should have done centuries ago and destroys the crown with his one good hand.

Receiving His Sentence[]

It's over. It's finally over.
~ Andrias, after the Core is fully destroyed.

Andrias is a part of the group assembled to bid the three human girls farewell. After telling her goodbyes to Olivia and Yunan, Marcy, despite everything that he had put her through, genuinely bids him goodbye as well. Andrias, not even looking directly at her under the belief he had no such right, humbly musters "Take care, kiddo". While left unsaid, Andrias at that moment felt great remorse at having deceived Marcy assuredly wishing that they could have genuinely been friends had he opened his heart to her in the first place, but instead he pushed her away as he did to Leif and Barrel. So, in the end, Andrias was left alone with no friends or allies in the world and will be forced to spend the rest of his remaining life as a hated outcast, though at the very least, he will always have Marcy, Leif and Barrel on his heart.

Andrias happily accepts his punishment of doing community service.

Because of his atrocities, Andrias was arrested along with those who were still loyal to him. He willingly abdicates the throne, serving a life sentence nine months later by becoming a farmer to help replenish the land he had destroyed under the Core's influence. Due to his cybernetic advancements being damaged, Andrias' left arm and leg didn't regrow, and his natural age finally was catching up to him having lost his eyesight. However, judging by his last scenes in the show, it looks like Andrias doesn't really care for this and is happier without the influence of both the Core and his father, at long last at peace with himself.

Matt Braly had confirmed that Andrias rejected Olivia and Yunan's offers to replace or repair his mechanical body so he could use whatever time left to atone for his mistakes. He is last seen carrying Barrel's warhammer as a crutch and having Leif and Marcy's pins on him. Due to the final scene of the episode taking place ten years after his final appearance, it can be assumed that Andrias died from old age by this point, but at the very least, was able to join Leif and Barrel in death, finally reuniting with his beloved friends.
