King Hippo is a major antagonist of Punch-Out!! series, appearing as an opponent in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (1987) and Punch-Out!! (2009).
He is a monster-like obese boxer who reigns on Hippo Island, a fictional island located in the South Pacific, and he is ranked in the first circuit.
He is voiced by Scott MacFadyen, while he is Portrayed by Kevin James in live action.
Appearance[]
King Hippo is large and obese with a Caucasian skin color with two bandages forming a cross to cover his navel, he has orange shorts with white lines and a red belt and he wears brown slippers, unlike the other characters in the Punch Out! franchise who have a cartoonish normal human design, King Hippo has a cartoonish monster-like face with a square chin with square teeth, having no visible nose, having visor-shaped black circles over his rounded eyes, that are his weird body features and having a small silver crown to signify that he is the ruler of Hippo Island.
During the title defense, King Hippo wears a much larger silver crown and has a manhole cover attached to three long pieces of gray tape to protect his large belly from Little Mac's punches.
Villainous Acts[]
- In title defense, he was looking for something that protects his belly from Little Mac's Punches, so he decides to steal a manhole by putting tape on it and his belly.
- His shorts accidentally fall off when Little Mac was punching him, even on his victory, via indecent exposure, despite wearing underwear.

- King Hippo (along with Bear Hugger) is the one of the only overweight opponents in Punch-Out!! (2009)
- He resembles a retired boxer, ButterBean, before starting his boxing career which was predicted by his first appearance.
- Unlike the characters from the Punch Out! franchise who have a cartoon human design, King Hippo is the only one with a cartoon monster design, due to his weird body features.
- He is obsessed with food.
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he appears as a spirit for King K. Rool.
