King Hrólf Kraki is a minor antagonist and optional boss in God of War Ragnarök, serving as the primary antagonist of the side mission. He was a Berserker that could be found in Migdard. Out of all Berserkers, that could be encountered throughout the game, Hrólf Kraki was the most powerful of them, which makes him similar to Sigrun of the Valkyries. He was based on the semi-legendary Danidh king of the same name.
He was voiced by Hinata Tadokoro in the Japanese Dub of the game.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Hrólf Kraki was once a lowly warrior in the Midgardian kingdom of Lejre. When Mimir was aroyal advisor in this kingdom, the god was proud of Hrólf's skills and appointed the warrior in the court of King Aldis. Hrólf and his twelve Berserkers immediately betrayed, murdered and deposed Aldis, which allowed Hrólf to usurp power and become the ruler of Lejre. This events caused Mimir to shamefully regret his actions and kindness which he showed to the fallen warrior. Hrólf and his Berserkers eventually died of the natural death, but their souls continue to linger in his sword, Skofnung.
God of War Ragnarök[]
Years later, the protagonist Kratos and his companion Mimir found the Hilt of Skofnung, finally allowing Mimir the chance to avenge the fallen king Aldis and solve his mistakes, which he did in the past. After slaying all the Berserkers, Kratos confronted and fought King Hrólf himself. While Hrólf was an immensely powerful warrior himself, but Kratos eventually managed to defeat him and slayed the barbaric tyrant, finally bringing Mimir peace and calmness for fixing his mistakes and misguid.
