King Jack Planters is the main antagonist of DC Elseworlds comic Wonder Woman: Amazonia. He is a version of Jack the Ripper, who weaseled his way into becoming the King of England in an alternate Victorian era. During his tenure as King, Jack turned the Kingdom into a cruel, despotic patriarchy.
Biography[]
An unusual explosion killed Queen Victoria and her family, excepting Duke Eddy of Clarence. Unable to move or speak due to damage from the explosion, Eddy could not claim the throne. Therefore, an American claimed to be a distant cousin of Victoria named John Charles Plantagenet. He was crowned as King John, but unbeknownst to anyone, King Jack (as he was popularly called) was the one who murdered the Royal Family as well as prostitutes from Whitechapel. To add insult to injury, King Jack declared war on France and other countries for expanding the British Empire. He even suspended all women's rights, reducing them to second-class citizens.
Among King Jack's inner circle was Steve Trevor, who, in stark contrast to his mainstream appearance in the DC universe, was just as misogynistic as his King. Trevor invaded Paradise Island and abducted Diana (this version of Wonder Woman). She was forced into marriage by Trevor and was repeatedly raped by him in an attempt to "civilize" her. By 1928, Diana had two daughters and was reenacting Bible stories as an actress. Eventually, she ran away to become a hero known as Wonder Woman, and fight back against the regime of King Jack.
Prince Charles, King Jack's son, meanwhile, was much more moral than his despotic father (Charles's mother was murdered by King Jack after giving birth to Charles). Despite being forced into being molded into the spitting image of his father, he resisted. During the final fight between King Jack's forces and Wonder Woman's resistance, the Duke of Clarence mustered enough strength to move his wheelchair to push the tyrannical King Jack to his death onto a cluster of stakes.
