King James is a tyrannical ruler alter ego of James MacDonald who appears in D.W.'s imagination in the Arthur episode "The Last King of Lambland."
Biography[]
King James appears in the episode "The Last King of Lambland" in D.W.'s imagination sequence inspired by the tyrannical behavior that the real James has been displaying after receiving a stuffed lamb as a present from his uncle, where one of his guards (played in the imagination sequence by Timmy Tibble) gives him a sack of crayons after he and the other guard (played by Tommy Tibble) gathered all the crayons in the land simply because King James likes looking at them. Then a peasant woman (played by Emily Leduc) comes into King James's throne room and complains that the people of the kingdom are hungry because they have no bread. In response, King James says they should eat Madeleines instead but then changes his mind because he doesn't like Madeleines due to their sweetness, and orders his guards to gather all the Madeleines in the land and stomp on them. Then D.W., dressed in a Robin Hood costume, slams open the doors to the throne room and declares that the people of the kingdom will never give their desserts to King James. King James responds that D.W. can't tell him what to do because he is the king, and then sentences D.W. to clean out every unicorn stable in the land. D.W. is presumably taken away by King James's guards to carry out her sentence as the imagination sequence ends.
Physical appearance[]
Like the real James, King James is an anthropomorphic rabbit with pale gold fur, square glasses, and black bead eyes, and is around four years old. However, he wears a blue regal shirt with a golden fleur-de-lis emblazoned on the front, a red cape with a light yellow collar that is decorated with black dots, and a light green tuft in the middle, and a large golden crown decorated with red, green, and blue gemstones. Finally, he wears dark blue pants and light brown boots with dark brown soles.
Personality[]
King James is portrayed as a tyrannical, selfish, and cruel ruler who is willing to let his people go hungry, even ordering his guards to gather and stomp on all the Madeleines in the land simply because he himself does not like them. He is also merciless towards anyone who opposes him, as he sentences D.W. to clean out every single unicorn stable in the land when she stands up to him. However, he does seem to have a soft spot for his lamb, as he is shown petting it at the beginning of D.W.'s imagination sequence. For some reason, he enjoys looking at crayons.
