King Julien the Terrible is a minor antagonist in All Hail King Julien. He is a former king of Madagascar and an ancestor of King Julien, one of the worst.

History[]

Long ago, King Julien the Terrible ruled Madagascar with feat and intimidation, nearly causing the genocide of the entire lemur species (and possibly other animals, as well). He shut down the schools and revamped the whole system to his liking, brainwashing students with revisionist history and inaccurate facts about all sorts of subjects (such as photosynthesis being a genre of music). Eventually, the kingdom fought back, drove him deep into a cave and put his tail under a huge rock. For years, he tried to scream for help, but nobody could hear him, causing his voice to become distorted and mistaken for a monster called, "The Gorch." The fruit that the lemurs had been tossing into the cave helped him survive, but he couldn't hack off his tail to get free.

Years later, Terrible was freed by Julien, Mort, Maurice and Clover, not knowing his true identity. Passing off as a lemur named, "Doc Sugarfoot", he gained instant popularity amongst the kingdom as a wise, all-knowing lemur by wowing everyone with his nonsensical metaphors and sayings. Terrible challenged Julien to an election, with the most popular lemur becoming king.

During the campaign, Terrible began spreading rumors about Julien being out-of-touch with regular lemurs and abandoning all of his "children", which gave him a huge lead in the polls. With some tips from Hector, Clover and Maurice went back to the cave and discovered Terrible's true identity. They tried to get back to warn everybody, but Terrible tries to silence them by killing them with a boulder, though unbeknownst to him, the duo managed to escape.

At the election, Terrible manages to win over the lemurs by saying three random words ("back porch", "overalls", and "huckleberry"), while everyone ignores Julien's sincere and heartfelt speech. Clover and Maurice arrive just in time to expose Terrible, causing everyone to panic. Unfortunately, Terrible easily wins back the lemurs by bluffing that his actions were that of a "strong leader" and everyone votes for him. Terrible takes back the crown and laughs manically. While he gloats about what he'll do as king, Terrible gets struck by lightning, reducing him to ashes and giving Julien back his throne.

He later appears in All Hail King Julien: Exiled, as an urn containing his ashes and in the series finale, where he is in the afterlife dancing with the other deceased villains.
