King Neptune’s Trident is the titular main antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Trident Trouble”. It is King Neptune’s sentient trident that loves causing trouble.
SpongeBob and King Neptune accidentally bump into each other, which causes them to accidentally switch their hand-held object. SpongeBob has King Neptune's Trident, and King Neptune has SpongeBob's spatula.
SpongeBob walks to the Krusty Krab late for work reading his comic book until it is eaten. Squidward and Mr. Krabs are worried and frustrated because the customers want Krabby Patties. SpongeBob goes into the kitchen and wishes that the tomatoes and lettuce were chopped, unaware that King Neptune's Trident can grant wishes.
SpongeBob is surprised and doesn't remember his spatula looking different and being able to grant wishes. The trident produces dancing Krabby Patties that all of the customers are satisfied with that they can eat. SpongeBob produces more of them, however, they turn evil and start attacking the customers, which causes all of them to leave the restaurant. Mr. Krabs is upset about losing money, and SpongeBob wishes that he wouldn't worry about that. As a result, Mr. Krabs becomes generous and gives away all of his money to his worry.
SpongeBob believes that he can solve any problem. When a baby fish is sucking on a pacifier, the parents drop it, which causes the baby to cry. SpongeBob soon hears the baby cry and thinks that it would put the pacifier back into the baby's mouth, instead the trident's power causes the pacifier to grow and eat the baby without SpongeBob noticing.
SpongeBob sees a fish who's upset because his grass won't grow. SpongeBob uses the trident to make the grass grow. The grass turns bigger and starts talking, and then attempts to mow the fish. SpongeBob finds Patrick and introduces him to his new powers while he's holding an ice cream cone. The trident's light causes Patrick's ice cream to melt, which upsets him but he continues to eat it anyway. SpongeBob tries to solve the problem by getting an ice cream truck but it disappears. SpongeBob uses the trident to give Patrick unlimited ice cream, however, it turns into a big flood of ice cream that floods Bikini Bottom.
King Neptune still doesn't realize that he has SpongeBob's spatula instead of his trident. He tries to battle a monster's angry mother with the spatula, thinking that it's his trident, but nothing happens as he reads the spatula l, which says "Property of SpongeBob." He is then beaten up and launched far away by the monster's mother.
SpongeBob tries his best to stop the flood in Bikini Bottom, but is unable to, and he then bemoans about how he ruined everything. Patrick tries to tell him that isn't the case, but he's forced to agree after seeing everything SpongeBob has done.
SpongeBob states that no Sponge should have this power and gets annoyed when the Greek Chorus appears to agree with him. King Neptune then shows up and wants to give him back his spatula as SpongeBob finally learns that he was using King Neptune's trident the whole time.
SpongeBob tries to give the trident back to Neptune, but the trident doesn't obey, which forces Neptune to combat it. After getting the trident to submit, Neptune scolds it for the trouble it caused before being happy to have it back and the trident is delighted. Neptune uses the trident to fix all of the damage that SpongeBob caused and everything goes back to normal.
Neptune has SpongeBob join him as they use the trident to create a giant Krabby Patty to go after the monster that beat up Neptune earlier.
