History[]
Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum[]
King Shark, one of the inmates transferred to Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum for the criminally insane, struggles with his temper and appetite. As he walks to his new cell, he encounters Victor Zsasz, who starts to bully Nanaue. When Zsasz threatens him by putting a blade to his throat, King Shark retaliates and bites off Victor's head, showcasing the fierce power he possesses.
During his time in Arkham, King Shark has conversations with Amanda Waller about his past life and the complex rules that come with being a monster. He reflects on the idea of fighting against monsters, believing that if one falls, it makes the others lesser. Meanwhile, his cellmate, Clayface, senses that Amanda might be up to something, adding tension to their discussions and the overall atmosphere in the asylum.
Three months later, King Shark sees inmates being beaten by A.R.G.U.S. agents. When he stands up for them, an agent threatens him. Suddenly, the cells unlock, sparking a riot. King Shark attempts to maintain peace but ends up zapped by a guard, causing him to retaliate and kill them.
Realizing it was Waller's plan all along, he decides to escape. He encounters an inmate in the sewer, which turns out to be Clayface. Mistaking him for someone else, King Shark bites his head off. Eventually, he learns Waller wants him alive as the last monster standing and orders the guards to blast him, marking him as the final member of the Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League[]
King Shark is forced to join Task Force X, with Amanda Waller warning the Squad about bombs in their necks to ensure compliance. Their mission is to stop Brainiac, who is invading Metropolis with brainwashed Justice League members. During the mission, they confront the Flash. Deadshot tries to kill him but fails, leading to a battle that results in the Flash's death. Unbeknownst to the Squad, he manages to kill Lex Luthor as well. Afterward, King Shark attempts to honor the fallen Flash, but Captain Boomerang disrespects him by urinating on his body, shifting the focus to himself.
After defeating the Flash, the Squad is teleported to Earth-2, where only Lex Luthor remains. He believes he’s the last survivor and asks for guidance. Back on their Earth, Waller briefs the Squad at the Hall of Justice, revealing that another Earth was wiped out by Brainiac.
At the bank, they find Wonder Woman using Green Kryptonite to shield against Superman. King Shark attacks with a kryptonite sword, but Wonder Woman pushes him back, refusing to harm her friend. As she leaves, a hologram of Luthor reveals Batman using a yellow ring against Green Lantern.
The Squad devised a plan using a yellow ring to depower the Green Lantern, which ultimately allowed them to defeat him—Deadshot finishing the job. However, the ship's shield remained active, so King Shark had the idea to use the Green Lantern's ring to disable it. Unfortunately, he struggled to control the power. In a moment of desperation, the Squad had to remove the ring from his thumb, which ended up sinking in the water.
Amanda Waller praised the Squad for taking down the shield and ordered them to launch the nukes. Just in the nick of time, Superman intercepted them. After dealing with the threat, he rushed to Wonder Woman, only to receive a call from Waller about alien creatures attacking her. They quickly went to her aid and managed to eliminate the creatures, bringing her back to the Hall of Justice safely.
The battle continued between Wonder Woman and Superman. As much as the Squad wanted to help, they knew Superman was out of their league. In a devastating moment, he broke Wonder Woman's shield and was about to finish her off. In a last-ditch effort, she stabbed him with green kryptonite, pleading for his forgiveness, but it only slowed him down momentarily. In a heart-wrenching turn, he used his full strength to kill Wonder Woman and then returned to Brainiac’s ship.
Before she passed away, the Squad gathered around her, recognizing her as a true hero who had saved the city and stood against Superman and Brainiac. As she turned to dust, King Shark felt a pang of sorrow, nearly shedding tears for their fallen comrade.
At the Hall of Justice, the Squad devised a plan to take down Superman with Earth 2 Lex's help. They needed golden kryptonite, so they set out to find Batman's cave for his guidance. Inside, they discovered a recorded message where Batman revealed how to defeat Superman. After incapacitating him with Scarecrow's fear gas, they succeeded in bringing Batman to Lex, who crafted the gold kryptonite.
In a twist, Harley killed Batman just as Superman arrived. Enraged by Batman's death, Superman targeted the Squad, but they used the golden kryptonite to ultimately kill him, celebrating their short-lived victory over the fallen Justice League.
However, Brainiac, impressed by their strength, offered them a spot in his army. Ignoring the offer, the Squad focused on their main mission: taking down Brainiac. They teleported to Earth Two, disabled his shield, and defeated him under Amanda Waller's orders. Yet, their mission continued as they aimed to eliminate twelve more Brainiacs.
His appearance in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League contradicts the version seen in Batman: Assault on Arkham, suggesting either that the film is now non-canon due never mentioned how he came back to life (unless maybe he did but doesn't mention it) and how he doesn't acknowledge having been in the Squad before, that this King Shark or that one belongs to another Earth like Deadshot or this King Shark is actually a grown up Kid Shark.
