Kira is one of the main characters of the Netflix's series Dogs in Space, serving as the main antagonist of Season 1 .

She was voiced by Debra Wilson, who also voiced Amanda Waller in Batman: The Enemy Within, Crying Wolf in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Jormag in Guild Wars 2.

Appearance[]

Kira is a Siberian Laika. She has mauve and white colored fur due to the environment of the planet she was stranded on alternating her genetic makeup. She has frosted blue eyes with a medium size snout and a black nose.

She is one of the only dogs without opposable thumbs up until episode 5 "Settle Down", where Stella uses the genetic enhancement machine on the crew to change them back to normal.

When she was a normal dog, she had amber colored fur (like Garbage's) and walked on all fours.

Personality[]

Because of her tragic past (being abandoned on a planet) Kira developed a lone-wolf personality in where she is tough, and does almost everything by herself. She did not trust humans, and was withdrawn from other dogs because she thinks It was easier for her to fight others, rather than to talk.

Kira had grown misanthropic and paranoid, seeing humans as irredeemable and seeing the M-Bark's mission as pointless. She even went through drastic means to sabotage the M-Bark, due to her believing that the dogs there act "too human".

After seeing Olga’s message that she was trying to find her, Kira finally comes to her senses and becomes remorseful over her actions. After being given a chance to redeem herself, Kira regains her respect for humans and respectfully thanks Garbage and the rest of his team for being there for her before going to earth with his and the other dogs’ messages.

Biography[]

After Earth was destroyed, all the dogs on Earth, including Kira, went into space for them to find a new planet. In one of her missions, she ended up falling on an unknown planet for three months. She attempted to send messages to the humans on Earth, along to a M-Bark dog, to be rescued, but her attempts were unsuccessful.

Thinking that her owner Olga had forgotten about her, Kira became angry with humans and spent her time on the planet on her own, killing other monsters and eating their flesh to survive, until after a long time, Garbage and his crew showed up onto the planet and discovered her. She helped the members of the Pluto save their ship from the emulicks and broke her arm in the process.

After much talking, Kira decide to stay on the M-Bark while her arm Heals, But she was made a member of the Pluto despite her temporary stay. There, she decided to adapt to her new home. During the time her time at the M-Bark, she was withdrawn from the other dogs, however the Pluto (especially Stella and Nomi) were cordial to her so she decided to open up.

Despite her resentment for humans she still participated in the mission to colonize Gooey's planet and almost dies as the planet collapses. She also assisted in the mission to steal a seed from the Shrubdubs, (albeit only so that Chonies doesn't die).

During her time as a member of the Pluto she slowly chips away at Garbage's insecurities until convincing him to assist her in annexing the M-Bark to create Doglandia. Garbage sneaks tech out from Restricted Tech Storage and Kira makes a machine out of it to slightly brainwash the dogs. However it does not go as planned and accidentally turns the sentient dogs (That being Jerry) into normal dogs. Garbage is horrified and stops the plan, however Kira forces him and Happy (Who had been stalking Garbage in an attempt to incriminate him) into an escape pod stranding them on a planet

After this the crew of the Pluto confront her and she blasts the roof and makes a run for it. Shortly thereafter she gets into a fight with Stella, Duchess and Ed, and turn them into normal dogs while Chonies, Nomi and Atlas sneak out to try to save Garbage and Happy.

Meanwhile on the planet Garbage finds out that Kira's owner Olga did not abandon her and is soon picked up by the Pluto

Garbage goes back to the M-Bark to get all the dogs on the ship back to normal, but Kira tries to stop him, and with the help of his friends, he manages to show Kira that Olga did not forgot her and that she did everything to find her again.

After seeing her message, Kira regrets everything she did and turns off the device, making everyone go back to normal. The council members then arrest her about her crimes, Garbage tries to convince her that it wasn't her fault and begs to give her a second chance to redeem herself. Duchess and the board members end up accepting Garbage's request, and sent Kira back on Earth to try to find Olga, and visit Garbage's owner.

In Season 2, Kira makes an appearance in the Season Finale "Barking up the wrong tree" to help Garbage and the rest of Pluto to save Earth from the Shrubdubs before they Destroy Earth. In a last ditch, Kira crashed the Elder Tree's ship so the Pluto gets to escape in time and after they escaped, Kira returns to earth in hopes that Pluto will have great Luck.

Anyone from Earth, from P.R.A.T.S, please respond.

Trivia[]

  • Although Kira is the main antagonist of the series, she never did her crimes with malicious intent.
  • Kira usually runs on all fours, unlike her fellow dogs that are in the series.
  • Kira shows many parallels to Garbage, since she also had a lot of love for her owner and did everything to try to find a perfect planet with the intention of making her proud before she was shipwrecked on an unknown planet, something she shares with him.
