~ Kirby Olsen. |
Kirby Olsen is a supporting character in the 2006 video game Bully, serving as a supporting antagonist in the fourth chapter. He is a student at Bullworth Academy and a member of the Jocks clique.
He was voiced by Chris Kromer.
Appearance[]
Kirby is a diminutive athlete sporting brown eyes and neatly groomed dark brown hair. He dons the Bullworth letterman sweater, its sleeves casually rolled up to his elbows, along with black pants and white sneakers. During colder seasons, he layers up with a letterman jacket over his sweater and accessorizes with a pair of white fingerless gloves.
Personality[]
Kirby embodies the archetypal jock persona, often rallying with a "let's go team" attitude. He speaks with gusto, foregoing accents but punctuating his speech with growls or drawn-out words for emphasis. He frequently drops the 'g' in words ending with it. His go-to insults are "loser" and "wimp," while he affectionately calls friends "dude." In attempts to defuse conflicts, he'll casually suggest opponents to "chill." However, his penchant for unnecessary yelling sometimes escalates to a screech when he tries to raise his voice further. Among several students, he exclusively refers to Jimmy as "Hopkins."
Kirby's interests revolve solely around Bullworth's sports program. He boasts about being the youngest recipient of a Varsity letter in the Academy's history. Despite this, he voices dissatisfaction with the state of sports at Bullworth, lamenting the lack of recognition for student athletes outside campus. He also harbors animosity towards Ted, fearing Ted might relegate him to play as a wide receiver and suspects Ted of undermining him within the team. Kirby doesn't specify his preferred position, though it may hint at his original conception as the team quarterback. When faced with threats of a swirlie, he claims to rank second on the team.
One peculiar trait is Kirby's consistent use of the euphemism "poundcake" for physical bullying, which he mentions in various contexts throughout his dialogue. He declares "it's poundcake time" when initiating an attack and threatens to "shove a poundcake down [someone's] throat," even professing to detest poundcake when attempting to evade bullying himself.
Kirby's sexual orientation is revealed as bisexual. He occasionally makes remarks about cheerleaders and Ms. Philips, boasting about his supposed success with girls, and hints at having a girlfriend in unused dialogue. However, he engages in makeout sessions with Jimmy while vehemently guarding this secret, even resorting to threats to keep it concealed. Interestingly, his voice during such interactions deepens compared to his usual tone.
Biography[]
During Chapter 2, Jimmy stumbles upon Kirby on a movie date, holding hands with Trent. Startled, Kirby hastily flees, insisting he's solely interested in sports. Additionally, he briefly appears in the Carnival Date mission, entering the carnival alongside Dan, both armed with baseball bats.
Throughout Chapter 4, Kirby features prominently in various missions alongside his fellow jocks. In Defender of the Castle, if knocked down, he'll be among the football-clad jocks. Unfortunately, during The Big Game mission, Kirby falls victim to drinking from a water cooler spiked with urine, resulting in predictable vomiting. In a mishap during the same mission, he inadvertently knocks out Dan by hurling a football rigged with firecrackers at him.
