Kirigi is the main antagonist of the 2005 superhero film Elektra.
He is the leader of the Hand's mutant ninjas and the murderer of Elektra's mother.
He was portrayed by Will Yun Lee.
Personality[]
Kirigi was an ambitious ninja of The Hand, eager to take his father's place at the lead of the criminal association. He's pitiless and cruel, ready to kill anyone who stands on his way.
History[]
Kirigi was the son of The Hand leader, Roshi. He was one of the Hand's best warriors and assassins, and he became the leader of a small group of mutant ninja. Kirigi killed Elektra's mother when she was a child.
When the first attempts of the Hand to kill Elektra Natchios and kidnap the young Abby Miller failed, Kirigi was put in charge of the situation. Roshi assured him that if he accomplished his mission, he would become the new leader of the Hand.
Thanks to the powers of Tattoo, the group was able to find Elektra and her protegees in no time. Kirigi kills McCabe, Elektra's "manager", and then followed the woman, Abby, and Mark Miller in the woods. During the following battle, two of the Hand ninja were killed, but Elektra was defeated, and Kirigi himself kidnapped Abby. In that very moment, Stick and his men appeared and stopped the Hand ninja, forcing them to flee.
Then Kirigi was challenged by Elektra herself, and they came to an agreement. The two of them would fight, and if Kirigi won, he would have Abby. If Elektra won, the girl would be free forever. Kirigi accepted, and the two met in the same house in which Kirigi killed Elektra's mother. Using his superhuman speed and his swordsman abilities, Kirigi easily overwhelmed Elektra but was stopped by Abby from killing her. Then Elektra, who had learned enough of his fighting style to anticipate his speed, impaled Kirigi's chest with one of her sai, and threw him into a pit, where he disintegrated while falling.
Powers and Abilities[]
Kirigi an incredibly skilled and trained combatant who fights with two katanas. However, is also able in unarmed combat. He possesses superhuman abilities derived by his training with the Hand, such as superhuman speed, senses, equilibrium and agility. He also has the ability to pull memories from other people, as shown when he forced McCabe to stare into his eyes and he learned where Abby had fleed.

- In the comics, Kirigi is a hulking ninja with a purple dress, rumored to be immortal thanks to his ability to meditate in order to regenerate almost any kind of wounds.
- Kirigi appears in the non-canon Daredevil video game.
- When Will Yun Lee came in, he saw a lot of Rob Bowman's X-Files episodes and two other films and noticed choices Rob made about his villains and Will wanted to do his role.
