Kougo Kitami (北見 高梧 Kitami Kōgo) is the overarching protagonist of the second part of the 2020 psychological horror manga, Juujika no Rokunin. He is Shun Uruma's employer and best friend, along with Mimi Kawana. He is the one behind the hitman group, "Juujika", under the pretense of a doctor whose sole motive is to wipe the world clean of criminals.

Appearance

Kitami is mostly seen as a tall man with white-colored hair tied into a ponytail, wore glasses, and consists of wearing a doctor's attire, which is his white coat, a dress shirt, dark gray pants, and shoes.

Personality

Kitami may be seen as a psychopath who doesn't care about the lives of others. However, unlike the majority of the villains in the manga, he only targets those who are truly evil and only wants the best for everyone, which is justified due to the majority of the criminals getting left off the hook by the police system in Japan.

Despite his sadistic attitude towards criminals, he is a very friendly and funny person when interacting with his closest friends, Uruma Shun and Kawana Mimi. It shows how much of a principled person he is in spite of the crimes he commits (only toward criminals as he doesn't deem them worthy of existing on the planet).

He is also shown to be very caring of Uruma when he's in danger. For example, upon rescuing Uruma from the clutches of Andou, he is so shocked at Uruma's condition that he attempts to call off the mission to prioritize Uruma's health, only for the injured man to request that he finishes off Andou first before they can all leave the island together.

Trivia

• Kitami Kougo can be likened to another fellow villain by the name of Light Yagami. However, the major difference is that while Kitami Kougo lived in a world that IS truly messed up, Light Yagami was most likely deluded over the fact that the world is messed up to the point he used the Death Note to kill MORE than the necessary amount of people to ensure the safety of the world. Furthermore, Kitami probably would never have been an assassin if it weren't for the circumstances of the world, while Light would have already became evil, even when the world isn't as bad as it shows.
