Mary Louise "Kitty" Menéndez is the secondary antagonist of the 2024 Netflix biographical crime thriller Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, the second season in the anthology series, Monster.
She is the alcoholic mother of Lyle and Erik Menéndez and the wife of José Menéndez, who maintain the abuses towards his sons in secret for the "good" of the family, which makes him one of those responsible for causing the traumatic instability of the Menéndez Brothers that turned them into his murderers.
She was portrayed by Chloë Sevigny in his first villainous role. As young, she was portrayed by Belle Shouse.

Mary Louise Andersen was born in 1941 in Chicago. She was the youngest of four children in the Andersen family. She was considered "incredibly beautiful, both inside and out," but she had a difficult life because her father constantly beat her and her mother. In college, she met José Menendez and fell deeply in love with him, so much so that they married at such a young age, regardless of the consequences.
The Birth of Lyle and Erik[]
On January 10, 1968, Kitty gave birth to Joseph "Lyle" Menendez, and on November 27, 1970, she gave birth to Erik Galen Menendez. When Lyle and Erik were children, Jose raped them, and Kitty was aware of what he was doing but kept it hidden out of love for Jose. However, after the birth of her children, she had to stop working in journalism, which led to a great hatred for them, and even for all children in general, which worsened after learning of Jose's infidelity, believing them to be responsible for her miserable life.
1987-1989[]
In 1987, while Jose was away on a business trip, Kitty was helping him with a script they were writing with a friend of Erik's. However, out of frustration over a mistake she made, she got fed up and called them psychopathic thieves, wanting to poison them. During lunch, she prepared something her children didn't like, leading Lyle to suspect that their mother had poisoned her. Kitty dismissed it as a joke. They decided to leave, but not before yelling at them that she should have poisoned them. However, she suffered a fainting spell that didn't even bother her children. She tried to get up and ended up drinking champagne, while Lyle applauded her, before finally going to get some hamburgers.
On August 20, 1989, Erik and Lyle visited three gun shops and purchased two shotguns. Upon returning home, they found Jose and Kitty in the living room. Kitty, standing there, had been shot several times by her children and her husband. Lyle shot her in the right hand and then in the back several times, according to Lyle, to finish her off.
