Biography
Klaus Liebleid was a German bio-researcher and one of the Ether Corporation's best researchers. Previously assigned to the Ether Corp arcology in Shanghai, he worked closely with its CEO Neleis De Waal on a range of projects.
He was responsible for transferring and isolating Liberation cultist, Owen Cage, to GAMA Facility Hospital in Hokkaido. He was working on extracting the Nabazov virus from Owen Cage and reverse-engineering it in order to gain new discovery and subsquent profits.
After Diana Burnwood discovered that the virus cannot be spread if its host was dead, Cage was later assassinated by Agent 47 along with Liebert and all other infected patients, putting an end to Nabazov's virus conspiracy.
Personality
According to Diana, Liebeld's methodical nature and insightful mind make it highly likely he will be able to reverse engineer Oybek Nabazov's virus. He considered himself beyond ethics, and raised above morality; a pure researcher. His lack of ethics and nefarious plans for the virus are not explicitly confirmed during the mission itself, but he does talk enthusiastically about weaponizing the virus for more "tactical" usage.
Trivia
- Notably, he is the only target killed in the Patient Zero campaign who is neither involved in the Liberation cult nor collateral damage to contain the infection, rather being a target due to what he knows about the Nabazov Virus.
- Diana pronounces his last name as "Leeb-leed", while Klaus pronounces it "Leeb-lied". The latter is correct according to standard German pronunciation.
- His surname roughly translates as "love sorrow" in German.
