Ulysses Klaue, also known as Klaw, is a major antagonist in the 2020 Square Enix video game Marvel's Avengers, serving as the main antagonist of its 2021 expansion "War for Wakanda" before returning as the titular main antagonist of "Discordant Sound", the game's first ever raid. He's a mercenary and weapons dealer with interest in Wakanda's precious vibranium metal, and is also the King T'Challa's archenemy. After being exposed to corrupted vibranium while using his sound-generating mechanical arm, Klaue became a powerful sonic monster bent on destroying Wakanda. However, luckily for the citizens of the hidden nation, he was stopped by Black Panther's new allies, the Avengers.
Ulysess greatly admired his father, Fritz Klaue, who was soon taken away from him by the protector of Wakanda, Black Panther, for trying to steal the country's main resource: vibranium. This in turn would lead to Ulysses developing an obsession with the mysterious and powerful metal, as well as a deep hatred for whoever holds the title of Black Panther and the people of Wakanda. Becoming an mercenary, Klaue quickly became infamous for his sadistic ways, and soon found himself leading an army of men and women like him. Forming the Klaue Company, Uylsses then allied himself and his subordinates to A.I.M., under the leadership of its new Scientist Supreme, Monica Rappaccini. With everything set, including the presence of hired muscle Crossbones, Klaue prepared to take on Wakanda's forces and finally get his long sought after revenge.
Face to face with the Black Panther[]
After the Company's first encounter with the Avengers and a destroyed sonic cannon, King T'Challa and his new found allies decide to search for Klaue using Wakanda's Kimoyo Network and discover his connection to corrupted vibranium. After his henchmen defeated, Klaue himself appeared before his hatred enemy, mocking him during his self introduction. Afterwards, during the ensuing skirmish with the feline protector, Klaue gets his arm severely damaged, but manages to escape with Princess Shuri's research team after hijacking Wakanda's systems.
The Avengers then follow Klaue to Azzuri's Temple, where the villain reveals to T'Challa the origins of his hatred for latter's country for their role in the death of his beloved father. Black Panther tries to take down Klaue to no avail, and the Avengers have a long and tiresome fight against A.I.M. while the temple crumbles, with some of Shuri's research team members being victims to the ensuing battle.
Fired by A.I.M. and the corruption of vibranium[]
As the Avengers reunite with Shuri, she reveals an intercepted audio conversation between Klaue and Rappaccini. During such, the Scientist Supreme argues that Klaue allowed his "daddy issues" to compromise the mission and that the destruction of Azzuri's Temple led to the loss of potential information about Wakanda before cutting ties with him. Before Klaue could answer her, however, the call was finished. A angry Ulysses proceeded to inform his men about their next objective: an full on assault on Wakanda's Vibranium mound with the intent of corrupting the precious resource.
The heroes went straight to the Wakandan vibranium mines despite the attack on Birnin Zana by A.I.M.. There, they successfully destroyed one FESS device before T'Challa came face-to-face with Klaue. During their battle, Klaue ended falling down into an abyss of corrupted vibranium and, due to sonic generator attached to his damaged arm, suffered severe mutations.
The Sound and the Fury[]
As the heroes were about to return to Birnin Zana to face A.I.M., a heavily mutated Klaue, now in a sonic-energy giant form, appeared before them. Joined by Crossbones, Klaw was determined to end the heroes' lifes once and for all before destroying Wakanda. Focusing on Black Panther, who made the tough decision to deactivate Wakanda's shields in order to weaken Klaw, the villain was betrayed by Crossbones, who affirmed he wasn't paid for that. Sensing his defeat, Klaw disintegrated before T'Challa.

Personality[]
While Klaue's personality is unknown prior to the expansion's events, it can be assumed that his father's death at the hands of Black Panther had great effect on him. Becoming a psychotic, sadistic and vengeful mercenary, Klaue had no problem killing those he deems necessary to achieve his goals. He was shown to be quite sarcastic during his first encounter with T'Challa, but quickly became infuriated after having severe damage to his arm. He is also shown to be rude towards women, as seen during his reaction to Rappaccini finishing their call and firing him. After his transformation into the sonic monster Klaw, he maintain his goals, but his violent tendencies and egocentric personality traits became even bigger, in part to his more dangerous new form.
Trivia[]
Klaue his very similar, in personality and appearance, to his Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart. However, unlike that version of the character, he does not die and becomes a being made of pure sonic energy, something which was never even considered to the MCU despise his mechanical arm shooting what appears to be a sonic boom.
