Ulysses Klaw, simply known as Klaw, is a supporting antagonist in season one of The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

He is an expert physicists and criminal obsessed with obtaining Wakanda's rare metal, Vibranium, which leads him to join forces with Man-Ape and Hydra. His actions are a key part in the Black Panther's origin and facilitates the hero's eventual joining of the Avengers. He is also depicted as an enemy of Ant-Man (Hank Pym).

He was voiced by Mark Hamill, who most famously voiced the Joker in the DC Animated Universe and other media, the Skeleton King in Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, Adolpho in Loonatics Unleashed!, Skeletor in Masters of the Universe: Revelation and its sequel Revolution, the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Stickybeard in Codename: Kids Next Door, and Undergrowth in Danny Phantom.

Biography[]

"The Man in the Ant Hill"[]

Klaw leads a small band of mercenaries in an attempt to steal Vibranium from a S.H.I.E.L.D. research facility in an African jungle being overseen by Hank Pym. After listening to Klaw's requests Hank uses Pym Particles to shrink the mercenaries and defeat them, while Klaw escapes. He later obtains a sonic disruptor to replace his right hand.

In the final segment, Klaw conspires with M'Baku the Man-Ape to overthrow T'Chaka, the rightful king of Wakanda, in order to seize control of the countries' Vibranium deposits. He used his sonic weapon to weaken T'Chaka during a ritual duel, allowing Man-Ape to land the killing blow.

"Panther's Quest"[]

Klaw intermediates a brokerage between Man-Ape and HYDRA in the sale of Wakanda's Vibranium. During a confrontation between the Avengers and HYDRA, Klaw fights Pym as Ant-Man until the Grim Reaper blasts the former into the destabilized Vibranium mound. The accidental exposure to vibranium interacting with his sonic gauntlet transformed him into a giant purple energy monster that can project sonic blasts from his being.

In his sound-monster form, Klaw attacks the HYDRA agents and threatens to destroy all of Wakanda by releasing deafening, destructive soundwaves. Intangible and immune to conventional physical attacks like penetration wounds, Ant-Man and Iron Man are able to contain Klaw's sonic emitter which is the source of his new found power, using a hollow Vibranium spike defeating the villain and saving the country.

Ironically, Klaw's consciousness is now trapped within the very metal he so eagerly sought to control.

Klaw is a mercenary and arms dealer who shows a complete disregard for life or law to achieve his goals. His primary motivation is an intense, lifelong obsession with the rare metal Vibranium found in Wakanda. This pursuit drives all his major criminal actions. He is willing to commit murder, including regicide (killing T'Chaka), and conspire to overthrow a nation if it means getting what he wants.

After his transformation into the energy monster his personality becomes more unstable and slightly insane. He barely speaks full sentences, attacks at random, rambles at length about "the sound", and displays a "childlike glee" for the mayhem he causes.
