Kleavon Gardner is the secondary antagonist in season 4, season 5 and season 7 in the crime drama TV series the Shield. He is a serial killer who hides evidence for his crimes.

He is portrayed by Ray Campbell.

Season 4

Kleavon was brought to the police station in convicted of murdering a woman, Dutch Wagenbach and Claudette Wyms interrogates him after his connection for several murders in Texas but he claims that he did not commit those murders who claims that he is framed by the Texas police when in reality there was no evidence for it, dutch describes him as a sociopath and let him go keeping a eye on him.

Season 5

Kleavon returns and starts a killing spree while evading capture. Claudette is suffering from lupus, dutch later showed his sister which caused her to sell her brother out to the police with evidence to proves he is the killer, Kleavon was shocked to her betrayal closing the case.

Season 7

now facing death penalty, Kleavon he knows Claudette is taking drugs to ease her lupus and showed her the bottle of one he found in the trash, he threatens Claudette by exposing her drug abuse if she takes off the death penalty, before he goes back to prison dutch asks for help of how to deal with a serial killer named Lloyd Denton, Kleavon also ravels that he is in love with a woman in prison and now with the death penalty is not happening, he can marry her.

Personality

Kleavon Gardner is highly manipulative, calculating, and highly selfish man. Throughout his appearances, he demonstrates a cunning ability to evade capture, initially claiming innocence in connection to murders in Texas and portraying himself as a victim of wrongful accusation. His calm demeanor and insistence that he was framed, despite Dutch labeling him a sociopath, show his ability to manipulate the system and deny responsibility. He begins a killing spree in Season 5, which further highlights his cold-blooded, and sadistic personality, as he continues his violent actions without remorse.

Kleavon's shock at his sister’s betrayal suggests that, despite his ruthless behavior, he expected loyalty from those close to him, reflecting his arrogance and sense of superiority. His subsequent threat against Claudette, using her lupus medication to try and manipulate her into removing the death penalty, showcases his opportunistic and unscrupulous side, willing to exploit someone's vulnerability for his own gain. His sudden shift to focus on love and marriage when the death penalty is taken off the table suggests that Kleavon is capable of emotional attachment, but even this seems more about securing personal benefits than genuine affection. Overall, Kleavon is a dangerous, narcissistic, and sadistic individual who manipulates others to serve his own interests while showing little to no empathy.
