~ Sam making a joke at the Kleers.

The Kleer are recurring antagonists in the Serious Sam video game series and major antagonists in Serious Sam 2.

Once a peaceful species, the Kleer were rendered extinct and their planet uninhabitable by Mental. He then raised the Kleer from the dead to serve as some of the most numerous and infamous members of his Horde.

Appearance[]

Being an extinct species raised from the dead, the Kleer are now nothing more than skeletons. Their arrival is recognizable by their hooved legs, with which they quickly approach and lunge at their opposition. A singular, long and deadly claw extends at the ends of their arms. Other notable features are their tails and horned heads.

Serious Sam 2 introduces a second variant of the Kleer known simply as the "Flying Kleer". These winged creatures wield blunderbusses to attack Sam from a distance and are the only Kleer to still possess some flesh.

Biography[]

Main Series[]

It is unknown how advanced the Kleer once were before Mental destroyed their homeworld in the Canis Major system, but nothing is left of the creatures they once were. What remains is a singleminded force of destruction meant to overwhelm all opposition with sheer numbers and ferocity. Their speed and agility make them a deadly foe in close combat, but they also possess minor magical powers to deal with enemies at a distance. With what little power they have, they can manifest metal balls on chains that are then hurled towards the nearest living target.

Serious Sam 2[]

In Serious Sam 2, the Kleer were once one of the five civilizations entrusted with guarding one piece of the Medallion of Power, an indestructible magical artifact that is said to possess the ability to weaken Mental enough to make him vulnerable. It is because of this that Mental dropped 10 million gallons of napalm on their planet, wiping them all out. What was once a lush planet full of life is now a volcanic wasteland where no life exists. Since even Mental was incapable of destroying the medallion, he raised the Kleer from the dead and gave the medallion piece to Count Kleerofski for safekeeping.

Using the medallion, Kleerofski had control over the other members of his species. After dealing with Prince Chan and claiming the third medallion piece, Sam was sent to planet Kleer to hunt down Kleerofski and take his piece as well. Battling through the many lava rivers and canyons of the Kleer homeworld, Sam eventually cornered and defeated the count during a live circus performance for his undead minions.
