~ A Klum talking to a human suicide bomber.

The Klum (pronounced "klume") are the main antagonists of the short film Rakka. They are a race of reptilian ailens who use an exotic form fluid-based technology and show an extreme aggression towards Humanity.

By 2020, the Klum have committed massive acts genocide on the human race, presumed to have killed billions, and have established themselves as Earth's main race.

They are likely based on the extremely popular theoretical species known as Reptoids (which alongside Grey have become almost universal icons of alien invaders in pop culture).

History[]

Background[]

In the near future, Klums invaded Earth, enslaving and/or eradicating humans they come across. Once they had managed to conquer earth, they began terraforming the planet to suit their kind's needs by burning forests, destroying cities, and building megastructures that slowly terraform the Earth, pumping out methane, making it harder and harder to breathe, while flooding cities near the oceans. Whoever is taken prisoner are either used as living incubators in for the Klum's young that inevitably painfully kills the victims, dissected, or forcibly converted into "human loudspeakers," urging humans to surrender into so called "conservatories". Very few manage to escape. The Klums purpose for eradicating humanity is because the beings they had once viewed as gods turned their backs on them, instead paying attention to humans. As a lesser species, it was likely that the Klum had psychological problems, seen as impure by these higher, and moderately angelic, beings. As revenge, they had formed plans of destroying every last remnant of humanity for their cause. The world they came from is unknown, but it is possible it has an atmosphere composed entirely of methane. Concept art shows a canyon, covered with trenches and deserts, with Klum structures and vehicles dotting it. It is possibly what their world looks like, or a region of Earth made uninhabitable by Klum geological engineering.

Rakka[]

By the 2020s, Klums still focus on eradicating remnants of human resistance and terraforming the planet. For the former's cause, they experimented on various human captives to discover what they were lacking in the eyes of their gods. Unfortunately, one of their former subjects, Amir, managed to escape and stumble upon a resistance group led by the amoral Nosh, still with Klums' brutal cybernetic engineering on his head and shoulders. In spite of tensions among human resistance, Amir managed to bond with Sarah, one of resistance members.

As he recovers, Amir foresees an impending attack where a squad of resistance soldiers managed to shot down a Klum ship. Telephatically telling Sarah about this vision, Sarah asked him how to hunt Klums and taught them fear. With a telepathic vision, Amir stated that teaching Klums fear towards humanity is impossible through the vision of crashed Klum pilot telekinetically bashing one of the militia soldiers, disconnecting his brain barrier and causing him to be mind-controlled, turning on his comrades, who are forced to kill him. Sarah then concluded that Amir possessed the same power with the aliens, and urged him to help them retake the Earth and save humanity. After this, he becomes known as Amir the Saviour.

Appearance[]

The Klum are bipedal, crocodile-like beasts that are 8 to 9 feet tall with six limbs. (Four arms, two legs)  They also have razor sharp teeth, a forked tongue, and nine small, black eyes. Their mouth is lined haphazardly, akin to that of a leatherback turtle.

The Klum are stated to be 'genetically cloned drones', and have been said to be 'entirely sentient' by the films director, Neil Blomlamp.

Powers and Abilities[]

The Klum use Swax, a black fluid-like material that behaves like a programmable matter. The Klum uses this material for all aspects of their technology, from weapons, vehicles, armor, and even atmospheric processing.

They also have the power to control the cerebrums of Humans, possessing limited telekinetic power. Resistance movements on Earth developed brain-locking systems to counteract this issue. However, they're on a limited supply of them.
