Markus Sebastian "Mark" Grayson, also known as "Kneepad Mark", is a minor antagonist in Invincible.
He is one of the Alternate Mark Graysons that started off as a hero, but became evil and conquered his Earth. He was later found by Angstrom Levy, and agreed to help him destroy the reputation of his world’s Invincible.
Appearance[]
He has a blue suit most similar of the mainstream Invincible`s with the difference of the knee pads and forearms.
Biography[]
Almost nothing is known about this Mark except he became a supervillain and adopted a blue and black suit, similar to the mainstream Mark.
Kneepad Mark arrived in the Mainstream Universe on the first day of the war through Angstrom Levy’s portal and immediately began wreaking havoc alongside his alternate counterparts. The Invincible War lasted for three days, but it is unknown if Kneepad Mark encountered or fought any superheroes on days one and two. On the third day, Kneepad Mark laid waste to Tokyo before he and the remaining variants were summoned by Angstrom Levy to meet above the Grayson’s residence, where he and the remaining variants were ultimately banished to the Wasteland Dimension.
He was later cannibalized by Sinister Mark.

Trivia[]
- Kneepad Mark and Wolf Cut Mark are the only variants that did not appear in the show, with Omni-Mark replacing Kneepad Mark as the one who decimated Tokyo on Day 3, and as one of the surviving Marks of the war whom Angstrom sent to the wasteland dimension.
- On a Twitter post, artist and co-creator Ryan Ottley mentioned that Kneepad Mark was designed by Cory Walker and was one of the prototypes for mainstream Invincible's blue and black suit.
- In fact in volume 10 of Invincible TPB books: Who's the boss?, the design for what eventually be Kneepad Mark is seen in several sketches.
- Invincible’s blue suit with kneepads originated as one of Cory Walker’s early designs during a 2007 costume redesign session with Robert Kirkman. Kirkman initially disliked the black kneepads and dropped them, though he later admitted they looked pretty good. Much later, Cory revisited the design with a cleaner sketch, but by then Invincible’s new suit had already appeared in the comics. Rather than waste the design, the team reused it in 2009 for one of the evil alternate Marks in the Invincible war known as Kneepad Mark.
- Ryan Ottley also explained in that twitter post that the reason why Kneepad Mark was kept as one of the day 3 survivors was because it was one of Cory Walker’s designs. Ryan Ottley and Robert Kirkman wanted some of Cory’s designs to be a part of the final eight. The same applied to Maskless Mark and Stripe Mark, since they were also designed by Cory Walker.
- Some fans have theorized that Kneepad Mark may have been briefly referenced in the series by Mohawk Mark during his attack on Payton Penitentiary. In the scene, Mohawk Mark encounters the Mainstream Invincible and mistakes him for another variant, demanding him that he leave the complex because they were supposed to cover the whole planet, before realizing that this was the mainstream version. It is currently unknown which variant Mohawk Mark mistook the mainstream Mark for, which led to the theory that it could be Kneepad Mark, since the Mainstream Invincible and Kneepad Mark look almost identical. However, this is considered unlikely, as Kneepad Mark was not included in the series, and it is more probable that Mohawk Mark was actually referencing Bald Mark instead.
- Despite being absent in the show, Omni-Mark uses his waist design, and in the comics, Bald Mark also shares his waist design.
- Kneepad Mark is often referred to as “Alternate Mark 19” due to him not having his own name for a long time and he was the 19th Invincible Variant to appear.
