Kirby: Right Back at Ya![]
Knuckle Joe made his first appearance in the episode, Here Comes the Son. Initially, he took a transparent ghostly-like form and storms Castle Dedede, following Customer Service's directions. Knuckle Joe manages to overpower all of King Dedede's forces and tosses King Dedede and Escargoon out of the castle. Knuckle Joe then reveals his identity, much to the surprise of Meta Knight. Knuckle Joe proceeds to ask the whereabouts of a Starr Warrior in Dream Land, in which Dedede informs him about Kirby. Knuckle Joe adheres to this and set out to hunt down Kirby. Later down his rampage, he strikes Tokkori with a lightning bolt and wreak havoc on Cappy Town. Eventually, he meets up with Chief Bookem and explains his motivation for vengeance against Kirby, stating that he's looking for a Star Warrior who has killed his father. Chief Bookem laughs this off, not believing Kirby would do such a thing, much to the anger of Knuckle Joe and causing the latter to punch him.
Because of Knuckle Joe's rampage, everyone is hiding in either a cave or the police station. However, being ratted out by King Dedede, Knuckle Joe managed to find their hiding location. Upon realizing that the person he was looking for was a mere infant, Knuckle Joe started to hesitate and ponder if Kirby was the person who killed his father. However, Dedede and Escargoon convinced the vengeful boy otherwise, leading to Knuckle Joe making up his mind. Knuckle Joe severely overpowers Kirby, not helped by Dedede's interference. Before Knuckle Joe was about to kill Kirby once and for all, Meta Knight arrives and saves Kirby from being destroyed by Knuckle Joe. Meta Knight then reveals that he was the one to kill Knuckle Joe's father, Meta-Knight then explains that Knuckle Joe's father was brainwashed by ENeMeE, forcing the Knight to end his life.
Knuckle Joe doesn't believe the story at first, but after being handed a locket containing a picture of him as an infant, he becomes deeply disgruntled. Knuckle Joe is still hesitant to believe Meta Knight, so the latter suggests that to find out the truth, he has to continue his battle against Kirby. After throwing a Smash Punch at Kirby, he inhales it and becomes Fighter Kirby, allowing him to fight Knuckle Joe on equal ground. Knuckle Joe suddenly transforms into a spikey ball form. Kirby inhales one of Knuckle Joe's needles and transforms into Needle Kirby, defeating Knuckle Joe and knocking him out unconscious. Before passing out, Knuckle Joe finally realizes that he is not a monster. Sometime later, Knuckle Joe regains consciousness and bids Kirby a goodbye, teleporting through Nightmare Enterprises' teleportation device.
