Konde Adolfo, or Adolfo, is the main antagonist of the Filipino Classic "Florante at Laura" (English, Florante and Laura). He is the vindictive, power hungry, and manipulative Count of Albania who schemes to ruin Florante's life, and is the arch-nemesis of the particular male main protagonist.

He, in a quite popular theory, is the "step brother" of Florante by Konde Sileno-his father-and Princesa Floresca, possibly causing one of his main tragedies. He was considered to be the greatest and most popular student in Athens. When Florante outdid him, his true colors revealed. He plotted to kill his former friend but was stopped by Menandro, Florante's best friend and later colleague in war. After bring forced to leave Athens, he seeks vengeance harder. He'd developed feelings for Laura, as one of his plots is too woo her, then taking over the Albanian crown. He was absolutely devastatingly outlucked when Laura renounced that her only true love is Florante. He thus plotted against Linceo, Laura's father and the king of Albania, by telling all the citizens that their king is nothing but a useless hedonist. As much to Duke Briseo, Florante's father was also in defeat of the vicous count's hands as he was beheaded publicly by Adolfo. He seized the throne and married Laura to spite his nemesis. Upon Florante leaving his troops to Menandro, Florante was arrested and, in popular adaptations, Adolfo came to brag his victory against him. Adolfo sent Florante to the iconic Higuera tree to die. He was dethroned by Menandro, Florante's friend. Not accepting defeat, runs into the forest where he threatens to kill Laura, or possibly even rape her-until his defeat by the arrow to his heart (shot by Flerida, Aladin's lover), and thus is his death.

He is one of Philippines beloved villains, if not most due to his dramatic characterization and influence, alongside Padre Damaso (Noli Me Tangere), Simoun (El FIlibusterismo), and Don Pedro (Ibong Adarna), all of which are from popular pieces of Filipino literature.

Iago from Shakespeare's Othello may have inspired his character. Charismatic, brutish, skillful, manipulative, hateful, narcissist, and rival to the General companion and now nemesis.
