Konton is the secondary antagonist in Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. He is a member of the Four Perils that serve under Lord Kirinmaru, and the first to survive an encounter with the Half-Demon Princesses.

He is voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto in Japanese and Armen Taylor in English.

Biography[]

600 years ago, Konton, Kyūki, Tōtetsu, and Tōkotsu are on Kirinmaru's Ship as he has returned with his broken right arm and left antler and his daughter Rion.

In 1297, when their enemy, the Great Dog General Tōga had been spotted in the land of Kamakura and was wounded from the battle with Ryūkotsusei, Konton and Kyūki reported it to Kirinmaru and suggested attacking him while he was injured. Kirinmaru furiously rebuked them, and said there was no honor in killing Tōga while he was weak as "a true battle must be one with honor and dignity". He instead summoned Riku and ordered him to gather medicinal herbs to heal Tōga. After Riku left, Kirinmaru said that the battle is meaningless unless both sides are willing to their all for victory, as he left they heard Zero chuckled as she said he could only learn the meaning of compromise and his rigid thinking is why they haven't ruled the western land yet.

Konton battled and killed the Meiōju for a piece of his armor shell that he fashioned into armor for himself. Years later, he levelled an entire village to create a beautiful clearing. He would soon battle Moroha, Setsuna, and Towa Higurashi. They would work with the Meiōju's son Meifuku and Towa would successfully separated the shell piece from Konton, who would soon retreat.

Konton vowed revenge against them, and summoned Nikosen to fight them since he was also a half-demon like them, though he was born a full human. Konton observed the fight from his lair through a type of fire that acted as a crystal ball. He observed Towa's transformation into a human and after Nikosen's defeat, noted that half-demons lose their powers during a full moon.

Months later, Konton approached Yawaragi with a deal: Yawaragi was wearing a cursed armor made by a rat village that would shrink overtime and eventually crush her to death. Konton slaughtered the village and held the only key in his possession. He told Yawaragi that he would give her the key if she killed Moroha.

Konton showed up as Yawaragi used her Scattering Winds attack to finish Moroha, but it was a set up. Yawaragi had given Moroha some advice that allowed her to use the Backlash Crimson Dragon Wave to deflect Yawaragi's attack.

Yawaragi then attempted to use Konton as a shield, but Konton had the Blue Rainbow Pearl and used it to teleport away to safety, leaving Yawaragi to be killed by the blast. Konton crushed the key and then fled as Setsuna attempted to attack him.

Konton set up a new trap and got some unexpected assistance from Riku, who suggested he use Tōtetsu as the key for the trap. Konton scoffed that he had no idea where he was or what he was doing, so Riku offered to find him. Konton also told him to lure the half-demons into his trap.

Once they were trapped in Konton's eight field escape trap, he used his magic to control a bagua wheel and shift the land they were in. However, Towa and Setsuna were able to sniff out the flow of demonic energy and cut through the nexus, escaping the trap. They found Konton and broke into the shrine.

Konton attacked them with his two Shikigami the Wind Lion and Thunder Lion, who were easily destroyed by Towa and Setsuna. Konton them used the power of the Blue Rainbow Pearl to summon a giant Blue Ogre to fight Setsuna.

As it turns out, they were still in the eight field escape trap, and Konton threw swords at Towa while staying invisible. Towa sniffed at Konton'a demonic energy and wounded him with a single strike. Konton powered up the Ogre, and held his sword to Towa.

Setsuna lured the Ogre toward Konton and had Towa dive out of the way. The Ogre lunged forward just as Towa jumped out of the way, and accidentally killed Konton by tearing his head off of his body with it's teeth.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Tao Magic Konton is able to use magic spells, most notably one that allows him to retreat in a cloud of purple smoke. He can also summon flames that he can use to observe others.
    • Divine Speed: The spell Konton uses to make his sword grow in length. It lasts for only one attack, so he has to say it every time he wants to extend the length of his sword.
    • Exploding Field: Konton throws a talisman that catches fire and explodes in a puff of smoke in the enemies faces.
    • Teleportation: Konton is able to use his talismans to teleport. The talismans act like a sort of portal that once released allow Konton to appear in the location.
    • Shikigami Magic: Konton is able to use his talismans to create beings to serve him. He has been known to create the Wind Lion, Thunder Lion, and a giant Blue Ogre.
  • Fang Magic: Konton is also capable of using Fang Magic.
    • Eight Field Escape Trap: Konton uses this spell to create an illusionary trap that he can change at will by rotating sections of his bagua with his magic. It needs something called a keystone in order for the trap to activate, and can only be deactivated once the nexus is cut.
      • Konton used the same spell to destroy the temple.

Weapons[]

  • Divine Sword: Konton wields a sword that has the ability to generate and fire off blasts of demonic energy. He can extend it with the Divine Speed spell.
  • Talismans: Konton can channel his demonic energy into sutra talismans that he can throw as a weapon.

Equipment[]

  • Second Armor: After losing the chunk of Meiōjū shell, Konton got a new set of armor to replace it. He hid the blue rainbow pearl in it.
  • Bagua wheel: Konton controlled a Bagua wheel in a small temple that he would use to control his eight field escape trap spell. He'd use his magic to turn sections of the wheel to confuse and disorientate his enemies.

Formerly[]

  • Meiōjū Armor: Konton wore an armor that was created from the piece of Meiōjū's shell that he acquired. He wore this armor everywhere until it was separated from him by Towa and returned to being a chunk of shell.
