Zhora Yakovlevich Korzhov, also known as Korzh, is the secondary antagonist of Metro Exodus: Sam's Story.

He is a bandit, who is a leader of his own Trapper gang situated within the ruins of Vladivostok. Like most bandits, he and his group were the only bandits left in the ruined city, largely in part of Klim's brutal methods of clearing the bandit population upon the arrival of Tom and his mercenary unit.

Background

Past

Korzh, who was at the regional marksmanship competition when the bombs dropped and the city was hit by a wave, survived, largely thanks to the venue being uphill. At some point in time Korzh eventually turned into a bandit. Originally one of several gangs of thugs in Vladivostok, Korzh and his gang stopped committing robberies out of concern, upon the arrival of Tom and his own mercenary unit in the city ruins. Since then, they have turned into fisherman who collect shrimp and extract the oil from them. They continue to be fiercely protective of their territory, though, and shoot at intruders.

Metro Exodus: Sam's Story

While travelling to the Captain's second base, Korzh fires his sniper rifle at Sam and the Captain, prompting Sam to dismount and find a means to take out the sniper. Sam corners Korzh after battling through his group and eventually subdues him. Sam can then choose to murder him with a grenade or knock him unconscious. Korzh presumably still perishes from his wounds even if Sam opts for the less harsh option and knocks him unconscious by bashing his head against a door frame.

Trivia

• Korzh dies regardless of the player's choice since his gang can later assault Sam in retaliation for Korzh's death regardless of if Sam just knocks him unconscious. However, it's a foresight done by the developers.
