Kou Yoku, also known as the Thunder, is a supporting character in the historical seinen anime and manga series Kingdom. He is a General from the superstate of Chu and a frequent rival to Ri Shin, Ou Hon, and Mou Ten.

Rude, laid back and extremely intense when it comes to combat, Kou Yoku is everything that's loud and arrogant, a trend shared by many famous soldiers of Chu.

Biography[]

While his early life and history is still unknown, Kou Yoku joined the Chu military at around his early teens and quickly rose to the rank of a one-hundred-man commander due to his incredible talents as a soldier.

At some point during this period, Yoku met his best friend and fellow prodigy Haku Rei and Rin Bun Kun, Haku Rei's brother-in-law and a general of Chu.

Together with them Kou Yoku spent many years touring the various southern battle lines of Chu where he grew to respect and admire Rin Bu Kun's strength as a general and leader while also relying on Haku Rei's archery skill to save him while fighting on the battlefield.

Trivia[]

Due to his talents in the military, mastery in swordsmanship, and ownership of the famous Bakuya Sword, Kou Yoku is possibly related to or the son of Kou En, the Tiger of Chu and Conqueror of the East as they both share the same last name.
Kou Yoku is one of the most powerful sword wielders in the series.
