“ | The Krang!? I have heard that name. Powerful, barbaric, creatures worshiped by the Foot clan. Legend says they came from the stars. Ruthless, unmerciful with one desire, to enslave our world like so many before us. | „ |
~ Splinter about the Kraang |
The Krang are the overarching antagonists of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the main antagonists of Nickelodeon's 38th non-theatrical feature film, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.
They are a malicious, brutal and vicious race of alien conquerors that seek to conquer the entire universe. They were also responsible for giving Oroku Saki his armor, turning him into the Shredder. They operate a techno-organic spaceship known as the Technodrome in their second attempt at conquering Earth.

History[]
Past[]
Over a thousand years ago, the Krang had come to Earth to conquer it as they did many other worlds before. But then four mystic warriors created a keystone and used it to trap the Krang in another dimension, which served as their prison. Since then, the Krang began to die out one by one (most likely having killed each other for unknown reasons) until only three of their kind remained; the Krang leader and his two siblings.
Some Krang managed to evade capture, however. One of them resided in a spaceship that leaked Empyrean, thus creating the Yōkai race. His body was sealed inside his ship and buried inside a statue called the "Crying Titan", which still leaked Empyrean.
500 years ago, another Krang, perhaps the same one as before, contacted Oroku Saki, whose clan was under attack by an unknown enemy. Making a deal with Saki, Krang granted him a suit of dark armor that made him invincible in combat, allowing him to defeat the enemy and save the clan from destruction. However, the suit then consumed Saki's soul and transformed him into the demonic creature known as the Shredder.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles[]
The corpse of the Krang that was sealed inside the Crying Titan was unearthed by the Shredder, who sought Empyrean to fulfill his goals.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie[]
In the year 2044, the Krang are shown to have invaded the world, causing havoc and decimating the members of the Resistance, a faction of freedom fighters who wish to prevent the Krang from fully conquering the world. Three resistance members, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Casey Jones, are on the run from the Krang's forces, as their defenses have failed against them. As it turns out, the Krang have fully overwhelmed the Resistance's forces, meaning that they have now fully conquered the world, causing Leonardo to instruct Michelangelo to open a "time gateway", a portal that will send them to the day the Krang first came to Earth. As Michelangelo does so, Leonardo tells Casey that the Krang first came to Earth through a gateway, a gateway that was opened by a keystone, which was stolen by the people who summoned them. As Leonardo provides Casey with a visual image, he instructs him to find the key in order to stop the Krang from conquering Earth. Just as Leonardo tells Casey this, the three of them are spotted by the Krang and their forces. Before the Krang can do anything, Michelangelo then uses the last of his mystic power to open the portal, which results in him crumbling into dust. Leonardo then throws Casey into the portal, as Casey watches Leonardo get killed by the Krang's forces.
In the modern day, Warren Stone and Hypno-Potamus are hired by the Foot Clan to retrieve the key, resulting in the two stealing it from a museum and hijacking an Action News van to escape. Their plans are thwarted by the Mad Dogs, who managed to defeat the two, but as Raphael manages to grab the key in his mystic aura form, Leonardo's hubris gets the better of him, as he decides that, as the leader of the Mad Dogs, he should be the one that secures the key. Leonardo then chops off Raphael's mystic aura hand, which in turn allows Hypno to retrieve the key once again. The key was then taken away by Hypno by Foot Lieutenant, who escapes with Hypno and Warren to the Foot Clan's new base of operations.
As the Mad Dogs returned home to the sewers, they then met Casey Jones, who (with the aid of Splinter) managed to convince the team of the threat the Krang poses, as well the Foot Clan's plan to free the Krang from their inter-dimensional prison, as the Foot Clan has worshipped them for many years. The Mad Dogs (joined by Casey) then made their way to the Foot Clan's headquarters in order to prevent the Krang's freedom. However, the team's efforts were unsuccessful. The gateway to the Krang's prison opened, and out stepped the Krang's fearsome leader, Krang One. The Mad Dogs then attempted to fight the alien off, but were easily outmatched by Krang One's strength. Then, in the midst of the brawl, Krang One opened a set of gills from the sides of his head, and let out a ferocious screech. Krang One had emitted a sonic wave, one that stripped the heroes of their mystic powers. With his enemies de-powered, Krang One called on his siblings, Krang Two and Krang Three, and asked them to join him in reshaping the Earth "in the image of Krang". The three of them begin attacking the Mad Dogs, which results in Splinter being knocked unconscious. Distraught, Raphael rushed to his unconscious father, ordering the team to retreat via escape pods prepared by Donatello. Despite Leonardo's objections and Casey's pleas, Donatello, Michelangelo, and April are sent off into the escape pods, with Casey being strapped into one as well, begging Leo to get the key as he rockets off. Leonardo watches helplessly as Raphael places Splinter into a pod, and as the pod Leo's in is about to close, he breaks free, frantically running to the key. He is successful in retrieving said key and shutting down the gateway, however is left vulnerable for Krang 2 to attack them. Before she could stab him with her tendril, Raph jumps forward and takes the hit, breaking a small part of his shell in the process, before attaching his escape pod to Leo so he could escape. This results in Raph being captured and possessed by the Krang.

Trivia[]
- The vehicle that takes Krang Two away at the end of the film appears to bear the logo of the Earth Protection Force from the 2003 series. Additionally, a man with an extremely heavy resemblance to Agent Bishop appears to be explaining something to a woman, potentially teasing his involvement in a future season.
- This is the first incarnation of the Krang that is shown to be able to fight off the turtles without an Exo Suit.
- This is by far the most deadliest if not, strongest incarnation of the Krang as they succeeded in destroying all of humanity and mutant kind in the future, (and managing to succeed in bringing in the Technodrome within hours), able to fight foes without mech-suits, and managed to disarm their foes at their powerful states (as shown when Krang One sent the Turtles combined Mystic Attack with just a flick of his Exo Suit.)
