The next man who raises a weapon destroys all of you! You and your primitive knives and your weapons, I'll teach you what killing really means!
~ Kras, showing his true colors to the Capellans.
Kras is an antagonistic Klingon who was featured in the Star Trek episode "Friday's Child".
He was portrayed by the late Tige Andrews.
A Quch'Ha Klingon, he was sent by the Empire to Capella IV in 2267 to secure the rights to mine the valuable mineral topaline, which was critical for life support systems. Seeing that the Capellan Teer Akaar was more inclined to do business with the United Federation of Planets and its representatives from the USS Enterprise, Kras supported the Capellan Maab when he challenged Akaar for leadership.
When Maab killed Akaar, Kras wasted little time in encouraging the new Teer to put Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Doctor McCoy to a painful death. Kras was especially keen to see Kirk killed after the later bested him in combat. However Maab was not as pliable as Kras had hoped and resisted the Klingon's suggestions.
After it became clear that Maab was not going to be the puppet Kras wanted, he betrayed Maab and the other Capellans. Using a hand phaser he had earlier stolen, Kras attempted to kill Kirk and Spock himself, and vaporized a couple Capellans. Wounded by Captain Kirk, Kras yelled that he would kill all the Capellans if anyone moved, and that the Capellans primitive weapons were no match for the advanced weaponry of the Klingon Empire.
Seeing the error of his ways, Maab decided to sacrifice himself to save his fellow Capellans. Approaching Kras, Maab yelled "Klingon!" Kras fired the phaser at the Teer, instantly vaporizing the man. Maab's lieutenant Keel used the distraction to kill Kras with his kligat.
The role of Teer passed to Akaar's newborn son, Leonard James Akaar. Subsequently the new Teer's mother and regent signed an agreement between the Capellans and the Federation granting the Federation the right to conduct mining operations on Capella IV.
