“ | Your father will be executed, and you will return to Earth. You will assume his mission and prepare the planet for our rule. I know this may not appeal to you, given your sympathies, so I'll put it like this: You can kill a few humans to convince them to capitulate, or we will kill millions if we arrive to find you or your planet still defiant against us. We will check on your progress soon. And unlike your father, we do not change our minds. Good luck on your mission. | „ |
~ Kregg's command to Invincible. |
“ | In order for a Viltrumite to be executed, he must be healed and whole. Worthy to stand and face the end of his life with honor, even if his crime was devoid of it. Yet, for even such a craven betrayal, there is a path to redemption. Rejoin your people, Nolan. Let this not be your legacy. You conquered hundreds of planets, brought glory to the Empire. You were one of our greatest warriors. How did a mere moment on Earth turn you into a weak, sentimental traitor? Answer me! | „ |
~ Kregg demanding Omni-Man to make amends with his kind and rejoin the Viltrum Empire, berating him for having a change of heart and betraying the empire he's lived his whole life. |
General Kregg is a major antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible and its animated adaptation of the same name. He is a high-ranking general of the Viltrum Empire, dedicated to aiding in the Viltrumite mission to make it the only empire in the universe.
He is voiced by Clancy Brown, who also played Lex Luthor in the DC Animated Universe, Mr. Krabs in SpongeBob SquarePants, Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Long Feng in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Byron Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, and Viking Lofgren in Bad Boys.
Biography[]
Just like any other Viltrumite, Kregg was born in Viltrum. He lost his right eye due to an accident with the Scourge Virus.
Personality[]
“ | It's only a matter of time, now. Soon, very soon, for the disgrace you've caused us... you'll be put to DEATH! | „ |
~ General Kregg sentences Omni-Man to death. |
Like other Viltrumites, General Kregg praises the ideals of his Empire conquering planets and puts the Empire's monarchy systems on those planets. He also shows extreme loyalty to the Viltrum Empire.
Unlike other Viltrumites, Kregg shows himself as a relatively calm man with reasonable words, as shown when he talks to Mark about his father's mission. However, he is still a ruthless individual, punching Mark in the face though the hero was already injured because Kregg thinks Mark doesn't listen to what he is saying.
However, when Thragg orders the remaining Viltrumites to come to Earth for repopulation, Kregg is shown to have a change in heart. For instance, he saves a woman (who was pregnant and has his baby) from the invasion of Flaxans despite Thragg's words of not interfering with Earth's conflicts or problems. Kregg is also a good husband and lover, as shown that in all 11 women he fell in love with, he states himself that he loves all of them. He also cared about his children as well showing he’s a good father.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Superhuman Strength: A Viltrumite's strength varies among individuals, and its upper limit is unknown.
- Flight: Thanks to a complex balancing system in their inner ears, Viltrumites have the ability to fly.
- Invulnerability: Viltrumite skin is very difficult to penetrate. Only beings with comparable strength can injure Viltrumites.
Trivia[]
- Kregg was inspired by Jax-Ur from DC Comics.
