Villain Overview

Any recollection of why I'm referred to as... Krusha?
~ Krusha threatening K. Rool in the TV show.

Krusha is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside General Klump) of the Donkey Kong Country Cartoon series, the TV show adaptation of the video games of the same name.

Krusha is King K. Rool's bodyguard and a high-ranking member of his army. Despite these high positions and responsibilities, Krusha is a complete idiot, having a hard time grasping simple concepts and becoming easily distracted. He is also best friends with K. Rool's general and second-in-command, General Klump, and is often used as the "muscle" or "weapon" behind his plans.

He was voiced by the late Len Carlson, and by Tomohisa Asô in the Japanese dub.

Much like his game counterpart, Krusha is a blue muscular Crocodile with a toned belly, a relatively small tail, and four white horns (weirdly, in the episode "Monkey Seer, Monkey Do" he is briefly seen without them, whether this could be that they are not part of his head or a simple animation error is unknown). His main outfit is a camouflaged military suit, black belt, and silver wristbands.

Personality[]

Krusha is loyal to King K. Rool and wants to help his King rule over Kongo Bongo, however, despite his high strength and imposing size, Krusha is extremely dimwitted and has a hard time understanding even the simplest of concepts. He's also very childish, as shown by his slow child-like manner of talking and also enjoying "The Sing Along with Uncle Swampy Show", a show meant for young children.

In episode 14 "Speed", Krusha is run over by General Klump with a minecart, causing him to become highly intelligent and then devise a plan to kill the Kongs and claim the Crystal Coconut for himself. Krusha is quite evil in this brief state of mind, considering K. Rool not ruthless enough in his evil plans, and despite giving in to Krusha and letting him lead, he considers K. Rool disposable and only wants to save him upon Klump's request. However, by the end of the episode, Krusha is run over by a minecart again and returns to being the same old dimwitted goon he always was.

Buried Treasure[]

King K. Rool was anxiously trying to connect with Klump to get an update on the situation. He wanted to know about the Kongs heading to the mines in search of treasure. Rool pressed Klump for details, speculating that the treasure might be a special rock. He believed that obtaining this treasure would give him the power to rule over Kongo Bongo. However, during this crucial call, Klump was interrupted when Krusha accidentally destroyed the phone. Rool was left frustrated and eager to reclaim control of the situation.

Orangutango[]

King K Rool challenged Kong Dance, with the winner not only receiving the Crystal Coconut but also the throne of Kongo Bongo. Rool selected Krusha and Klump as his dance partners and began practicing. Klump was the first to try out the dance but struggled with his moves. Rool took the time to teach them both how to dance better in hopes of defeating the Kongs.

During the dance-off, Klump ended up giving his turn to Rool, and then Krusha danced. Donkey Kong and Candy Kong followed, showcasing their skills. Ultimately, King K Rool emerged victorious. With his win, he claimed the Crystal Coconut and made a wish to rule over Kongo Bongo. However, when he saw Klump's silly dancing, he regretted his wish, realizing it was foolish to wish for power without considering the consequences.

Feeling trapped by the situation, Rool commanded Klump to do something, but Klump decided to run away, and foolishly, he, along with Rool and Krusha, ended up in a predicament.

Speed[]

Klump used a speed cart with Krusha to try and halt their plans, but instead, he ended up getting hit by the cart. When Klump checked on Krusha, he was surprised to find him speaking clearly and showing unexpected intelligence; it turned out the cart had reversed his condition while he was making shadow puppets. King K. Rool sought to teach Krusha about evil using a Candy Clone, but Klump was hesitant after their last failure.

Despite his reservations, Klump warned Krusha that the Kongs were coming. When Krusha checked, he realized a bomb wasn't part of the plan, seeing only Diddy and Dixie. Trying to scare them off, his efforts failed and the Candy Clone plan backfired. Krusha then informed King K. Rool and Klump that he had rigged the cart with explosives—if it was stopped, it would blow up. Klump grew worried about Diddy and Dixie’s safety if the cart were to explode.

As they made their move to Cranky's house to steal the crystals of the coconut, Donkey Kong arrived just in time. Klump hurriedly warned them that Diddy and Dixie were in danger if the cart stopped. With everything on the line, they all learned that the situation was dire.

Afterward, Krusha and Klump returned to base, intent on taking over the world once they eliminated the Kongs. However, Klump expressed concern about saving Rool from an explosion, and Krusha, ignoring the warning, ended up getting hit by the cart again, returning to his normal self. Klump was relieved, thinking they could save King K. Rool, but it turned out the devices were just a decoy and not functional at all. Unfortunately, in the ensuing chaos, the cart did explode, but by some luck, King K. Rool managed to escape unscathed.

Klump's Lumps[]

Klump was busy devising his next scheme to snag the Crystal Coconut. Before he could lay out his ideas, King K. Rool interrupted him with a stern question: how many times had he attempted to steal the Coconut from the Kongs? Klump fumbled for an answer but was met with K. Rool's furious shout of "Time's up!" and a warning that he better come up with something or face dire consequences.

Cowering in fear, Klump tried to present his plans involving distractions with barrels at Barrel Work, but nothing seemed to work. As he nervously checked one of the barrels, it suddenly exploded, adding to his already mounting failure.

That was the last straw for King K. Rool. Furious, he fired Klump and exiled him from the clan forever. As all the Kremlings turned to watch, Klump walked away in shame; even Krusha gave him a sympathetic glance before K. Rool called him back, making it clear that it was time for Klump to leave and be alone.

Feeling alone after his exile, Klump was approached by King K. Rool and Krusha, who offered him a chance to regain his status by stealing the Crystal Coconut from the Kongs. Desperate for redemption, Klump accepted.

Bluster’s Sale Ape-Stravaganza[]

King K. Rool was lounging in front of the TV, captivated by the latest broadcast about the barrel-throwing antics that had been his downfall. Suddenly, Klump popped in, eager to share news of a secret weapon he had in mind. Rool, ever ambitious, called on Krusha for help, but of course, Krusha was too engrossed in his favorite show to respond.

Meanwhile, Krusha was enjoying his shows when he was interrupted by Rool’s grand address on TV. The broadcast proclaimed that Rool would be the new ruler of Kongo Bongo Island, and he was determined to make it happen. As Rool continued his speech, Klump comically tried to steal the spotlight, leading to a hilarious exchange where he struggled to get out of the way.

With everything set in motion, Rool’s plan hinged on Klump using a barrel as part of the secret weapon to snatch the Crystal Coconut. However, chaos ensued: Klump became stuck, launching himself back towards Rool instead, leaving them both in a dizzy mess as Krusha accidentally hit a button, sending them down to the basement. The mishaps only added to their ongoing struggles for control over Kongo Bongo Island

Bug a Boogie[]

Klump and Krusha were engrossed in an episode of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong when Klump remembered he needed to report to King K. Rool. He grabbed the banana phone and rushed back to the lair, informing Rool that the Kongs were using it to strategize.

After reporting, Klump and Krusha ventured into the forest, but the fog quickly thickened. They soon found themselves stuck in the mud. “This is great,” Klump grumbled, struggling to free his feet. Krusha looked around nervously. “We can’t let Rool down!” They knew they needed to escape quickly before the Kongs could outmaneuver them.

A Thin line between love & ape[]

In the story, Klump and Krusha are preparing to steal the crystal coconut. Klump decides to use a bonkcile, which he believes will help them outsmart the Kongs. However, Krusha misses the clue and ends up causing a commotion when he accidentally steps back and falls.

King K. Rool, along with Klump and Krusha, comes across a Kong who mistakenly thinks he has the crystal coconut. They break in to create chaos, and during this, they obtain a love potion that they test on Klump, who starts to fall in love with Rool, much to their misfortune.

Their plan seems to be working with Candy Kong’s involvement to lure them to the crystal coconut, but the love potion has unexpected side effects that unleash some rage eventually. In a twist, Donkey Kong steps in, reminding everyone of their true selves, and Rool, consumed by rage and confusion, runs away empty-handed.

Season 2[]

Hooray for Holly Kongo Bongo[]

Klump and Krusha overheard Bongo on the island and rushed to report to King K. Rool. They conveyed the exciting news about a movie being made on the island, presenting Rool with a golden opportunity to become a star and attract an audience. Eager to impress Bluster Kong, King K. Rool, Klump, and Krusha rallied their efforts to prepare the audience. The film began with Klump and Krusha portraying villains, and as Donkey Kong discovered them, King K. Rool felt a sense of pride, especially seeing Klump's impressive performance. The whole scenario was unfolding just as Rool had hoped.
