Kuaidul Velgear is the main antagonist of the 2022-2025 Studio Bridge anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!, the eighth installment in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime franchise, serving as the overarching antagonist of Season 1, the main antagonist of Season 2, and the overarching protagonist of Season 3. He is the former arch-nemesis of Yudias Velgear and Yuhi Ohdo up until his death, before resurrecting inside the former and becoming his mentor. He is also the narrator of the first arc and the Season 2 premiere.
He is the first Velgearian created by the Creator (the Earthdamar of Otes), being created with the Andromeda Galaxy, and the co-creator of all other Velgearians. He had a particular interest in Yudias Velgear, who was created using The Creator's home galaxy, the Milky Way, as he wondered why The Creator didn't give him this galaxy due to him being his first creation. After absorbing his creator, he took inspiration from him in an attempt to make the universe his cards in order to enjoy a Rush Duel before his eventual expiration. To this end, he orchestrated most of the events of the first season and early second season by causing Zwijo Zwil Velgear, Phaser Ryugu, and Zaion's falls to villainy, as well as turning Nyandestar into a card and corrupting duelists through the Relic by putting Darkness cards in their decks. He then reveals himself during the Galaxy Cup as the grand author of all these events before being seemingly defeated by Yuhi Ohdo, before it is revealed he actually planned to lose so he could imprison the inhabitants of Mutsuba Town in the "Kuaidul Spacetime" and use them as his cards. After being defeated again by Yudias, he merges with him in order to sate his envy of him being created with the Milky Way, with Yudias being willing to allow it. This causes Kuaidul to feel regret before redeeming himself and dying, informing Yudias of the Velgearians' impending doom as he dies in his master's arms. Soon after, it is revealed that he also attempted to prevent the Velgearians' extinction by studying Monster Reborn.
Kuaidul is later resurrected inside Yudias by Damamu during Season 3, and becomes a mentor of sorts to him, while maintaining his interest in him and the unique way he was created, and studies the multiverse, furthering Yudias' evolution by teaching him about the multiverse and giving him the power of Ritual Summoning. He is eventually separated by Yuna Goha from Yudias when she tries to use him to create a time machine, and ends up becoming the guardian of Otes after Yudias defeats him.
Personality[]
Kuaidul is a theatrically arrogant being, often glazing himself with long titles like "the lone Proto-Karutumata". He notably lacks the valor associated with the rest of his species, to the point where even the other Velgearians grow to despise him, ironically so, since he is their progenitor. He seems to hold himself and his status as the first of his kind in high regard, often bringing up that fact when talking about himself. Taking after his creator, he shows a lack of regard for the autonomy of others, with his end goal being to make the entire universe into his pawns.
Despite his flaws, Kuaidul ultimately has insecurites regarding himself. This is shown by his jealousy of Yudias for being created with the galaxy the Creator came from, the Milky Way, to the point of actually falsely remembering (until his first defeat at Yuhi's hands) the Creator telling him he was created with that galaxy, as well as his statement of lacking a heart to Yuhi. Kuaidul notably has a borderline obsession with Yudias' unique composition as a whole even after his redemption, wondering why he never expired like other Velgearians, and deciding to experiment on his power by showing Ritual Summoning to him and giving him a Ritual Spell.
Kuaidul ultimately has a change of heart after Yudias willingly accepts them merging, deciding to accept his death and pass down his knowledge of the upcoming death of all his kind to Yudias. After his resurrection, he maintains his egomania, but also shows some heroic traits, such as helping Yudias grow in his own twisted way, helping Fukamura with his struggle of understanding his feelings, and showing gratitude when Manabu and Epoch supported him in his duel against Fukamura.
Kuaidul loves his creator dearly, addressing him as his Sensei/Master, and was so upset when The Creator tried to depart to Earth that he absorbed him so that they'd stay together, and embraced him tearfully before his death. He also is implied to care for Otes, the Creator's progenitor, in the same way, as he embraced Yudias when the latter said he would become Otes, and being happy to look after Otes for the rest of his days.
