Kung Lao, also known as Dark Kung Lao or Khaos Kung Lao is a minor antagonist of Mortal Kombat 1, serving as several alternative malicious versions of the Shaolin warrior Kung Lao.
As with his main and Revenant counterpart in Mortal Kombat 11, he is voiced by Sunil Malhotra.
History[]
Mortal Kombat 1[]
An alternate version of Kung Lao is a member of Titan Shang Tsung's Order of Darkness, and joins his master, along with the Dark versions of Liu Kang, Kitana, Mileena, Reptile, Baraka, Li Mei, Tanya and Nitara in destroying Fire God Liu Kang's Hourglass and thus his timeline. Kung Lao faced Titan Raiden and Geras, before he and Liu Kang battled Titan Raiden before eventually beating him. Turning their attention to Fire God Liu Kang and Titan Kitana, Kung Lao and Liu Kang were thwarted by them, and after the attack on the Hourglass was ended, they fled with their master. Kung Lao would later take part in the subsequent Battle of Armageddon, which also included various other versions, such as a Kung Lao with Scorpion's powers called Scorp Lao, as well as a fusion with Raiden who was killed by the playable Final Warrior by being set alight with a brazier.
Khaos Reigns[]
Another alternate Kung Lao serves as a minor antagonist of Mortal Kombat 1's DLC, Khaos Reigns. A member of Titan Havik's Brotherhood of Chaos, Kung Lao acted as a guardian of Havik's Citadel along with Noob Saibot, and the Khaotic versions of Raiden, Johnny Cage and Rain. Kung Lao and Khaos Rain battled the interlopers before they were knocked back by Empress Tanya. Right after, they battled Empress Tanya and Cyrax, but were defeated. Afterwards, Kung Lao joined Khaos Liu Kang in battling them, but was taken out for good.
