Kunishige Seko (jap. 世古国繁, Seko Kunishige) is the main antagonist of "Teitan High School's Ghost Story".
He's voiced by Shōtarō Morikubo.
Past[]
Two years ago, Kunishige lost his best friend Hideaki Hosaka, who he had been friends with since elementary school. Both attended the same elementary and middle school, but when they were both transferred to Teitan High School, Kunishige was hospitalized for six months due to a severe head injury caused by a motorcycle accident. As a result, both of them hardly saw each other anymore. Although Hideaki often visited him in the hospital, one day he stopped coming to see Kunishige at the hospital. At first, Kunishige ironically suspected that Hideaki had left him for a girlfriend he had met. However, when Kunishige learned of Hideaki's death after he was released from the hospital, he immediately inquired about the cause of death. Kunishige was so upset by his best friend's death that he even shed bitter tears over him, but no one wanted to tell him what happened to Hideaki. When Kunishige confirmed his suspicions that someone had been teasing Hosaka, driving him to suicide, he vowed to find the perpetrators and get revenge for Hideaki.
Present[]
Time after hospitalization[]
Kunishige is now a student at Teitan High School in his third year, but he is having a hard time getting over the death of his best friend Hideaki Hosaka, who passed away two years ago. It can be assumed that Kunishige has met Shinichi, Ran and/or Sonoko several times at school, but he is only introduced to the others after the events surrounding the hauntings. At this point, Conan, Ran, and Sonoko meet him. Only Dr. Araide has known him for a long time. When they first meet, Kunishige disappears just as quickly as he appeared with Kazumi's announcement, citing a stomach ache. They learn of a conversation that Kazumi wanted to have privately with Kunishige, but was canceled due to the presence of Ran, Sonoko, Dr. Araide and Conan was canceled.
Shortly before he entered the hospital room again, he said a few words to Dr. Araide that he didn't have to worry about him. When Ran, Conan and Co. later visit Kunishige's hospital room, they talk in detail about his past and his friendship with Hideaki, which is again very revealing, especially for Conan in connection with the investigation into the haunting at school. Furthermore, Kunishige explains that since the last encounter with Conan and co. he said he had not left the hospital room, let alone seen anything suspicious about the haunted activity, and promised the school nurse, who had already left, that he would go home immediately would, especially since he didn't live far from the school. He also points out or is of the opinion that the conjurers of the ghost theories are usually the perpetrators themselves and relates this to Sonoko, who is convinced by the ghost.
The culprit behind the hauntings[]
After Conan finds the solution to the school mystery, he asks all the witnesses he interviewed (including Kunishige) to go to the art room, where Masao Monobe is supposed to find out more about the identity of the perpetrator. Because Conan had previously found out that the perpetrator in the schoolyard used an umbrella with Hosaka's desk and a message on it, which was pulled in with a fishing line after the rain in the schoolyard and shaken out in the hallway because he caught it there than the ground was covered in mud, Conan knew that the owner of the still-covered umbrella must be the culprit, whom Conan positively identified as Kunishige based on Sonoko's voice. However, since he denies the crime and believes the sequence of events is doable for the others, Sonoko brings up the stories about the Library of Grudges, the Cursed Staircase, and the Tool Room of Sobs and compares them to Kunishige's options, both of which are Kazumi's Concerns and Masao also didn't have enough to orchestrate the performances.
Therefore, only the scattered books that Hideaki had borrowed could be in the library, since Kunishige knew both the books and his friend well. Kunishige, according to Conan's conclusion, used a block of ice that he placed in the hole behind the fire extinguisher, and with the help of wax, the pool of water in front of the stairs would inevitably resemble "Hosaka's Tears". As the truth about the haunting grows closer, Kazumi feels provoked by Kunishige's obvious lies and threatens to reprimand him. However, Kazumi learns that it was Kunishige who suddenly began to cry at the sight of Hideaki's desk in the equipment room and recognizes a certain justification in Kunishige's actions. And so he admits that he staged and carried out the haunting because he believed someone had killed Hideaki and left his things in the storage room out of hatred. Masao intervenes and blames himself for Hideaki's death, although he lets Kunishige know that it was an accidental death for which he is partially responsible. Meanwhile, Kazumi explains to Kunishige that the desk was brought to the equipment room out of good intentions to prevent Hideaki's memories from fading. She just wanted to tell him about Hideaki's accidental death.
