Kuon (クオン) is the main antagonist of the 2D anime fighting game series called Under Night In-Birth. He initially debuted as a NPC in the first installment, then has later been promoted to a playable character and as an arcade boss of every playable characters but himself in Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes].
He is a leader of the Night Blade and once a noble young man, Kuon now hides in the shadows, manipulating those under him. He is also an older brother of Linne.
He is voiced by Ayane Sakura in his younger self, who also voiced Zinnia from Pokémon Evolutions and by Yuma Uchida, who also voiced Kawaki from Naruto series and Ultraman Tregear from Ultraman R/B The Movie: Select! The Crystal of Bond.

Kuon has lived for 500 years, wielding the inexhaustible power of the Night; now, he aims to bring an end to the world. Long ago, Kuon and his sister Linne were charged with protecting the Power of Sealing. However, the immense power eventually consumed Kuon, and he lost sight of himself. Now he desires further power--which he can attain by seizing the other half of the Power of Sealing possessed by his sister. Kuon's arch-nemesis fled beyond the Night. By taking Linne's power and breaking the wall of the Night, Kuon hopes to reach him. The resulting destruction of the world is merely the means to that end. |

Appearance[]
He usually appears as a preteen boy, being just a head taller than his sister. His long, unkempt hair is brown in color with red streaks and his eyes are a deep red, though they are somewhat hidden within his hair. He wears a large, hooded, white robe with a zipper going from the hood to the back and four undone belts; two around the hood and two near the waist. Underneath this robe, around eighty percent of Kuon's body has turned into a Void as a part of the process of becoming a Re-Birth. His head, part of his chest and his left shoulder are the only parts of his body that still retain his humanoid parts. However, his mutation from a result becoming a Re-Birth mutates his ears into similar to that of an elf, and sports sharp nails on his left hand's fingers as his Voided right hand's fingers. The robe he wears is enchanted with a spell to make it easier for Kuon to control the Void within his body.
Personality[]
His personality is somewhat of a mystery. He is known to be manipulative towards other characters such as Hilda and Hyde Kido as he used them for his own endgame. He can come off as cold and uncaring, mainly keeping to himself around others and preferring to keep his emotions out of conversation, giving him an eerie, unsettling presence.
Despite being a capable fighter, he prefers to avoid combat whenever possible and will not fight anyone unless he has a reason to, and even then, he will only resort to fighting as a last resort.
Biography[]
Background[]
Five hundred years ago, Kuon was gifted by the Hollow Gods an immortal body and eternal youth alongside Linne. During the Licht Kreis War when Licht Kreis attempted to invade Japan, he fought against their former leader Waldstein and won. However, during their fight, Waldstein consumed too much EXS from Kuon and transforming into a monster. Thankfully, Kuon managed to save him with the help of Vatista from becoming a complete monster. Because of this act, Waldstein decided to surrender and became friends with Kuon.
As time went on, Kuon had become more aloof as his immortal body has becoming more of a curse to him. As he was about to leave his village, he left Linne in the care of Waldstein before wandering off without a trace. At some time point, he assigned a small Void called Kuu to keep an eye on his sister.
Present[]
Kuon resurfaced and manipulated Hilda into attempting to become a Re-Birth, which are people with abilities even greater than In-Births. He also manipulated the main protagonist, Hyde Kido, into meeting Hilda at her manor, so he can use both of them as means in accomplishing his goal in opening up the Abyss.
Final Night[]
A month later after Hilda's defeat, Kuon prepares his ultimate plan: the Final Night. In the meantime, he recruited Enkidu, the former Amnesia member, in helping his cause by defeating any other In-Births who stands in his way. He attempted to open the Abyss in order to let all of Voids and EXS run loose all across Kanzakai, Japan then eventually the rest of the world.
In his Arcade route, he successfully defeated most of the playable cast, including his sister Linne, and finally confronted Hyde in the base of Abyss. After defeating Hyde, he took his sword called Insulator which he claimed to have stolen and use it to open Abyss. He then drops down to end Higan's life, his old archenemy and the character we almost know nothing about as of yet.
