The Kur are major antagonists in the manga series, Dandadan, serving as the main antagonists during the Space Globalists Arc alongside Reiko Kashima.

They are a militaristic group of octopus-like aliens with highly advanced technology that seek to conquer other planets and feed their inhabitants to the Big Mamas in order to create powerful battle suits.

Appeearance[]

The Kur outside of their battle suits resemble soft-bodied octopi with tentacles for a mouth and they also vary in size.

Because of their weak bodies and constitution the Kur resort to the use of highly adnvanced battle suits in order to survive in various planets' atmospheres. These suits vary between different Kur, with a lot of them resembling different aliens like Greys and Xenomorphs, while other take inspiration from various animals, kaiju and even ancient sculptures.

Biography[]

The Kur are first seen when the Hasstur Kur invades and defeats a Serpo base, stealing their information and technology along with other Kur, before setting their sights on Bamora.

A group of Kur later ambush Okarun, while a second group attack Aira and Jiji, and although both teams put up a good fight, Okarun even managing to take down one of the flying Kur, they are ultimately left defeated, with Okarun having his kintama stolen and left in critical condition, but before the aliens can take his body to investigate it, they are attacked byt Mr. Mantis Shrimp, which forces the aliens to retreat. Meanwhile, Ayase ends her shift at Moe Moe Kikoho and gets ready to leave, but before she does she sees that the patrons and staff of the café have transformed and begin attacking her, learning from the alien controlling them that Bamora is their accomplice. Before the alien can dissect Momo she is saved by a Serpo, who assissts her in taking down the Puppetteer esosuit Kur.

After reuniting back at the Ayase household, Rokuro explains that the invaders are planning to use Okarun's kintama in order to power-up the wormhole that will allow their invasion, an event which will take place in five days, for which Ayase, Jiji, Aira, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp decide to train for. The day of the invasion, the group attack the aliens in the middle of the city surrounded by the Empty Space where the aliens have already begun opening the warp gate earlier than anticipated to allow entry to their allies.

The aliens engage in combat with the now much stronger fighters, and the Hasstur Kur enters the battlefield, subduing Bamora who attempted to intervene previously, and mortally wounding her. While Momo attends to Bamora's wounds, memories of the Kur's invasion of Sumer, her struggle to survive, and being separated from Banga are transmitted to Momo, Aira, Jiji, Mr. Mantis Shrimp and Rokuro, with Momo in particular looking angry at the attackers.

Rokuro heals Bamora before passing out, and requests Momo to destroy the aliens' suits as they contain their stolen intelligence, and after Jiji, Aira, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp defeat their opponents a large ammount of Kur appear from the warp gate, overwhelming the protagonists in numbers once again, until Okarun arrives suddenly and takes out numerous aliens with his teleportation ability, which combined with the arrival of the Evil Eye, turns the tables in favour of the protagonists again.

Momo and Okarun defeat the Hasstur Kur, destroying his suit from the inside, however, the alien refuses to give up and infiltrates Bamora's exosuit and forcibly transforms it into a more powerful form, however Kinta arrives and uses his expertise on giant robots combined with the nanoskin house to rescue Bamora and create the Great Kinta, engaging the alien in a giant battle, with the Kur winning the exchange and destroying the robot, however Kinta, in the nick of time, transforms the cockpit into a jetpack which he attaches to the giant's back, launching him in the air and finishing off the alien with a spinning powerbomb.

However, Momo and Okarun are late to deactivate the warp gate, an event combined with the arrival of Reiko Kashima pushes Momo to cry in despair on her knees, Kashima seeing this along with the Kur fleet raining fire upon the city is reminded of her own past, and uses her powers to teleport the entire fleet into her mirror dimension, annihilating all of them with an onslaught of punches, ending the Kur's threat to Earth once and for all.

In the aftermath, a group of Serpo are seen investigating the remains of the Kur technology, brandishing the name upon them, and alerting other civilizations of their plans of conquest, as well as expressing concer for their apparent alliance with Count Saint-Germain.

Personality[]

The Kur are heartless individuals that see other lifeforms as mere materials for the creation of new suits, they are also extremely greeady as shown by the Spatial suit Kur, as the first thing he says to the Serpo is that all that's theirs belonged to them too.

Abilities[]

The Kur possess some of the most advanced technology in the galaxy, thanks to their Big Mamas producing battle suits for them being being fed habitants of the planets conquered by the Kur.

These suits all vary in different abilities for each Kur, however all the suits offer them various degrees of superhuman strength, speed and durability. Some suits while lacking in strength or durability ake up for the ability to fly and shoot powerful energy beams akin to a sniper rifle.

Even without theitr battle suits the Kur are also a highly intelligent species, as show by the Advance Unit specifically catching each member of the main team separately in order to reduce their chances of winning, and using Okarun's kintama to power up in order to bring their Main Force to Earth.
